I'm still chomping at the bits to see the new Pirates of the C.... movie. For awhile there, had a 10 story 'billboard' on the bldg next to mine with a picture of Depp, Bloom and the rest of the cast walking out of the fog.

Mmmmm, pirates.

My wife and I went to see Knocked Up on Saturday. It's a pretty good movie and Heigel is a talented comic actress.

It was a comedy but it had a real serious aspect to it. The scenes where they showed her gaping vagina with the baby's head crowning were a bit more than I expected.
Movie's gotta be better than the title. Always hated that term and it doesn't sound any 'cuter' as the name of a movie.

That's bad enough on TV - who wants to see that on the big screen?

Saw Arachnia on the Sci-fi channel's "Spider Night" the other night.
It wasn't bad, considering the total production budget was around $12, including sets and special effects. Half a star.

Still tho, it was a masterpiece compared to the other spider movie on that night--Ice Spiders.. the thrilling and original plot involved huge, deadly, talking, lab- created behemoths who went on the hunt for hapless souls at a ski resort.

My god, it was , all told, the worst movie I have ever seen.

Negative 7 stars.

Heh, Plan Nine From Outer space was a breathtaking and groundbreaking masterpiece of thrills and chills galore.

I get goosebumps just thinking about it.

EVERYONE knows the worst movie ever made is Rat-Fink a Boo-boo--- a tearjerky, tragic, and profoundly touching tale of my ex in laws and their run -ins with the mailman, a cute, snot nosed orphan kid, and various crossing guards. The subplot involving stolen milk money adds a spicy touch.

HIGHLY recomended.

Fire way, Evak!
We're easily entertained.
I recently have watched:

Army of Darkness- Watch Evil Dead I and II first, and then enjoy this Bruce Campbell flick

Koyaanisqatsi- One the best pieces of cinema I've ever seen. A 90 minute long experience of moving images of nature and civilization set to the genius of Phillip Glass' music.

The Proposition (2005)- A Western set in the Australian Outback about a man's fraternal "predicament." Great cinematography and dialogue, though the characters suffered without much elaboration.

28 Days Later- I am no fan of horror films at all but the premise of this one found me engaged. Good control of tone and pretty good movie.

Ocean's 13- On par with Ocean's 11 in terms of entertainment (not style), far exceeding Ocean's 12. However, Pacino was useless in the film.

City of God- A visual flare and time lapse storytelling, this Brazilian movie (Cidade de Deus) is 2 some hours of callous disregard for human life due to poverty, ego, and drugs.

Bobby- A multifaceted story featuring many, many stars (Anthony Hopkins, Martin Sheen, to name a couple). A decent movie that could've been more. Emilio Estevez directed, managing to make it an emotional ride despite his inexperience.

Shane- I don't like many Westerns, and this is no exception.

A View to a Kill- Did somebody say Christopher Walken? Oh wait, there's Roger Moore.

Capturing the Friedmans- Documentary about a man and his adult son that terrorized their neighborhood by molesting children

Cat on a hot tin roof- the play is brought to life thanks to the help of Burl Ives and Paul Newman. Touchy subject matter for the time, and still a relevant film today.

Death of a Salesman- the tv version with Dustin Hoffman and John Malkovich. Not bad, not bad at all.

Guess what I didn't watch? A David Lynch film! That guy makes movies that suck balls.

I actually watched this movie some time ago, but I figured I'd mention it because it's still my most memorable DVD since I saw it:

The Squid and the Whale.

If you haven't seen this, please go rent it. No... buy it. It's absolutely fantastic and nobody seems to know about. And another hidden gem: Freeway. If you like over-the-top violent/profane Tarantino style films and a hot young Reese Witherspoon (who knew she could say fuck so many times!) and a badass Keifer Sutherland, check it out.

A few DVD's I recently bought but have yet to see:

Platoon (steel edition)
All the President's Men
Network
The Unforgiven
Bullitt
Citizen Kane
Bringing Out the Dead
Sling Blade
The Insider
Heat
Good Night and Good Luck

And no, I've never seen any of these before. But yes, I know I'm in for a treat.

Speaking of Jay and Silent Bob...I saw Clerks 2

Now, I was nervous it would fail in the shadow of Clerks 1 (a favorite of mine), but it proved to be just as entertaining. Randal is one of my top 10 movie characters. The necrophilia incident in the first was replaced by bestiality here, btw. (That's fucked up!)

Fahrenheit 9/11- Granted I waited a long time to see this, and I have to say it is not as good as his other movies. He has excellent control of tone with his sense of humor and empathetic voice, however this lacked the charming punch that Roger and Me, or Bowling for Columbine, had.

Sicko- Since I am saying I saw it and it hasn't hit theaters (blame the internet), I better shut up before the MPAA attacks me. :D

Akira Kurosawa's Dreams- Akira Kurosawa is one of the 10 greatest directors of all time and likely always will be. This film chronicles his dreams over the years in a very wonderful way. Great movie, though not for general consumption due to the abstract nature.

28 weeks later- Blood! BLOOD!

Basquiat- Bad movie with good characters.

Guess what I didn't see? Hostel 2. If you go see that you're no longer associated with me.

Two more for the list:

An Inconvenient Truth- Not nearly as good as hyped. The movie lacks many cinescapes of nature and Gore is a rather dull narrator. When I say narrator, I mean guest speaker, as the movie is basically a filming of a lecture by him with many visual aids to keep us from seeing his face the whole time. Intercalary moments about Gore's life dot the documentary to its disadvantage and the film neither packs an emotional punch or engaging presence while played.

Oldboy- Korean film about a man who is locked up for 15 years and then let free. Darkly humorous and well done, though the twists of the plot, rather than impress the audience, disgust them.

Evakian

Okay, here's some more Sal:

Scarface- a movie everyone has seen and references but for some reason I never got around to it. Decent movie with big names like de Palma and Oliver Stone, Pfeiffer, and Pacino. People seem to glorify this lifestyle of opulence and treat Scarface as an icon, when the film itself was trying to make us think the opposite (it failed at that like Saturday Night Fever and Goodfellas).

Being John Malkovich- Spike Jonze and Charlie Kaufman sure can make movies that are terribly creative and original, however this movie (their first collaboration) was worse than their others, namely Adaptation and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. This movie did however, provide many laughing moments and bizarre characters.

American Hardcore- a history of hardcore punk music from DC. Naturally it wouldn't appeal to you if you don't care for the genre or know the bands, but it had interviewees ranging from Flea, to Phil Anselmo, Moby, and Ian McKaye. Good documentary that has won awards at sundance.

I do believe I shall see it to get my Samuel L. Jackson fix.

In fact, I do believe I got it today already. A priest-in-training is staying at my house and I woke him up weilding a frying pan and quoting this fake Ezekiel verse from Pulp Fiction:
"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee."

I watched the dvd of the Pirates of the Carribean 3 and it was very brilliant film of Jonny Depp...
And now, Im so excited to watch a horror film... I heard from rumors that Paddy Breathnach has an upcoming film titled "SHROOMS"

A group of American teens comes Ireland to visit an Irish school friend who takes them on a camping
trip in search of the local, fabled magic mushrooms. When the hallucinations start taking hold, the panicked friends are attacked by ghostly creatures; never able to determine if they are experiencing gruesome reality or startling delirium. When one teenager unknowingly eats the dangerous Death's Head mushroom, the group's nightmare takes a deeply sinister turn...

I beg to differ frogger. I thought it was a great movie. It will be up for some awards for sure!!!Tommy Lee Jones was excellent. I didn't think his role was a minor either. And the villian was great too.My wife and I saw, No Country For Old Men. It was a waste of great acting talent. Woody Harrelson and Tommy Lee Jones had onlhy minor roles. Really a disappointment.

I agree, both the villian and the guy who found the money were great. I don't think Tommy Lee Jones or Woody Harrelson were utilized enough in the film. They are both great actors and in my opinion their talents were not shown.

The movie was muddled and the ending relly stunk.

Well yes I think Tommy Lee Jones just wanted to be in a Cohen brothers movie. And did not mind if it was not a major role. And the role was not a strecth for him but I think he was great anyway. They certainly could haved used Woody Harrelson a little more. It already won best movie from the National Board of Review and is nominated for three Golden Globes including best pictures. None of the actors are nominated but it did when an award for best ensemble acting from the National Review also. I'm sure it will be nomiated for an Academy award for Best Picture though. I was a little put off by the ending too. But how many movies are like that? A lot I think. I think I would give it an A for suspene though! Zodiac. I just rented it from netflix. I thought it was good. I didn't live in the San Francisco bay area when all this was going on. They had a lot of suspects but never got the killer. One of the main suspects may have been the Zodica though. Or at least that is what I got from the movie.

I just watched North By Northwest and Double Indemnity. Both are great.

That's four Billy Wilder movies I absolutely love now--The Apartment, Some Like It Hot, Sunset Boulevard, and Double Indemnity. The screen writing in those classic era films were so good. They have such wickedly delicious dialogues. The more I watch them the harder it is for me to sit through a crap modern movie now.

Double Indemnity is a masterpiece!
Great film noir, and Fred MacMurray cast against type as the murdering bad guy you still have sympathy for.

Fred, to Barbara Stanwyck: "You're rotten."

Barbara to Fred: "We're both rotten."

Fred: "Yeah, but you're just a little more rotten."

Great, great movie.

Watched the remake of THE HILLS HAVE EYES on HBO over the weekend. Scared the hell outta me. That one's gotta be one of the top ten scariest movies EVER.

I'd have to give it a B for suspense. The Usual Suspects, rates an A for suspense. The Peter Lorre movie, M, made when he was still a German actor, deserves an A for suspense. In fact, in my opinion it is one of the five or ten best movies ever made.

Mrs. Frogger and I just went to see, P.S. I Love You. It was a chick flick but a good one. I thought it would be a comedy but it was a bitter sweet, slightly sad movie.

The fact that I love Hilary Swank made it more enjoyable for me.

Guys, if you want to take your special lady to a movie she will almost definetly love and you will almost definetly like take her to see, P.S. I Love You.

My wife and I saw, Juno the other night. I highly recommend it. It's a chick flick but a really good one. You get to honestly like the characters. The young actress who played Juno should get an academy award, she was that good.

I remember seeing, House of Wax with Vincent Price in 1953. It was 3D with stereophonic sound. It was scarey and awesome in its day.

I have both the original and new version of House of Wax on DVD
I'm not a fan of remakes,I hate them actually, but this one was alright. Enough suspense for my liking

I've watched quite a few movies lately.

I recently re-watched Blade Runner. Pretty groundbreaking film. 4/5
The Kingdom, with Jamie Foxx and Jeniffer Garner. Middle Eastern Political drama. I usually like those, this was not that great however. 3.0/5
Re-watched Amadeus, great movie, big Mozart fan. 4.5/5
I Am Legend, that was pretty good. I've always liked Will Smith, 3.5/5
Reservoir Dogs, which I have never seen even though I am a huge fan of all other Tarentino movies. Was good, probably my least fav of his movies though. 3.5/5
Starship Troopers I rewatched, just because I think it's cool. 3.5/5
And lastly, I watched The Downfall tonight. A movie about what went down in the last ten days in Hitlers bunker during the closing days of WWII. It was VERY well done. 4.5/5

I recently watched Beowulf, the CG version.

I liked it, although it displays the weakness of man for a hot chick. Even if she does have a tail.

seen it in the theaters,it was good for what it was. If they had stayed away from the love story it would have been alot better.
