Now that Apple has done their typical Tuesday release of a slew of bizarre toys, Who's going to be the first on the block to blow the bucks on a 500 dollar cell phone, or a wireless internet connection for your TV?

Seriously, this trend of trying to make everything do everything has to stop. I'm cool with having my phone and iPod and TV and computer be separate from each other. I'd rather have two separate things that work well than one thing that performs two functions in a half-assed manner.

Mac was cashing in on the fact that many people don't know that.I dont think thats entirely true. Most folks know you can use your TV as a display, but the logic runs a little deeper.

I dont know if youve ever used iTunes to download a video or movie, but I have. I also tried to use quicktime to view it, and even did the conversion to mp4. The movie would play just fine in iTunes, but the audio/video lag was intolerable in any other format. So if you burned it to dvd, and stuck it in your player, you got pissed. I suspect this hair brained idea was a result of that. Keep the movie in iTunes, port it to the boob tube, and everyones happy.

For me, being someone that already ports iTunes audio to my stereo, something like MacTV could be considered. But maybe I'll buy a TV first.

As far as a 500 dollar cell phone, I'll have to think real hard on that one. I'm already married to my current cell, and I hate it with a passion. What makes me think if I can watch movies on it it's going to make me change my mind?
