A few years ago I used to have an old girlfriend that had a very unusual name. Her name was Minika. I have periodically looked her name up in various dictionaries time and time again in a desperate attempt to find out what it means and so far, I have failed at every attempt. I would like to see if anyone here can find a source that gives an accurate definition of her name. I have searched everywhere and so far have not found what it means anywhere. Can you find it anywhere? I know I can't. :(

LOL, true Paul! Like this morning for instance... heard the new word of the year is PLUTOED. Means to be devalued or discarded.

May none of us be PLUTOED this year, including Minika!

Plutoed, not sure that one will catch on, girl.

You didn't say what nationality she was...but I came across 2 names that were close in spelling and one is an African name meaning, "Much expected of her", just the letter "Y" was in place of the "K", and the other is Japanese, but it didn't offer a meaning. Otherwise, I'm stumped just as you are. It could also be a "made up" name that her parents liked...being original.

Well, I searched around a bit, found some actresses with the name, and an author or two, so its not totally unique. As for what it means, I dunno.

I checked my name book for you and it has almost every conceivable name under the sun...except...Minika. Sorry.

You know it could be a misspelling like Oprah. She was actually named Orpah from the bible but her mum couldn't spell so when they registered her they spelled it Oprah.

Well that's good... Oprah sounds a lot less retarded than Orpah.

Hi, my name is Minika. The name actually has no meaning although I like the African translation of Miniya, "of much is expected."

While there are many ways to phonetically pronounce Minika...my mother says "my-knee-ka" and it is derived from my cousins name MiaLashae Nieka.

Although Minika is easy to write in Hiragana and has a vowel after every consonant making it similar to many Swahili words, it's actually just a unique American name. At least that's what my mother intended it to be. I recently came across a singer from the UK named Minika Green.

I hope my comment helps...

Best,
