Anyone heard about this new reality show? Starts in a couple weeks on CBS. I love the premise, celebrities become reserve officers on the Muncie, Indiana police force. The stars included are Trish Stratus (WWE champ), Erik Estrada (Chips), La Toya Jackson, Jack Osbourne, Jason Acuna (wee-man from Jackass). Hope they can make it! If you think that’s wild I heard they’re making a sequel where they send a new crop of celebs into the war in Iraq. Now how was that for the year 2007?

I doubt we will be seeing Sean Penn or Tom Cruise kicking down doors and shooting Insurgents anytime in the next billion years. Or any celeb for that matter. So it wont be like sending them INTO the war, maybe putting them on a nice base with 5000 US Army infantry to guard them.

How boring. A bunch of washed up, and/or second rate actors going to play kop. Estrada doesn't get enough of a charge seeing himself on re-runs? Somebody thinks (?!) Osborne can be trusted with a gun?
How about sending some of the no-talent crowd to Basic Training and Infantry school? IF they can make it, then they get an all expense paid trip to a combat zone - along with an iron clad contact for their services.

I don't think anyone would. The struggle for relevancy only gets worse with age.

Doesn't the Springsteen song Glory Days come to mind?

Actually, Jack has played paintball and video games for a long time, his aim turns out to be better than anyone else on the show (I'm super excited about this show, have posted about it already, actually). Check out him behind the M4 and the glock: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PzBId0bLsdc

Likely, he'll just be out on the streets, issuing tickets to illegally-parked vehicles or making sure all pets are on leashes and nobody is littering. I highly doubt any of these stars will be taking part in any raids, sting operations or solving domestic abuse problems.

Ah, Muncie---crime capital of the world.
If this show lasts 3 weeks I'll eat my computer.

No, they really are going to do those things (though with other police officers on hand). Trish goes on a prostituion sting, I read. Plus there's this piece about Erik Estrada blowing up at a stabbing victim for calling him Emilio Estevez: http://www.pal-item.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070105/NEWS01/70105008
which to me proves that Erik was doing something real, not parking tickets etc. I mean, it wouldn't make for very good TV unless they put them on the most high drama calls.

did anyone see the premiere last night? Was it just me or was EVERY perp that they busted a non-violent crack addict? Guess non-violent drug offenders don't go to rehab in Indiana. I liked La Toya's phone call to Jackie "don't tell Tito, don't tell Jermaine, don't tell mom, don't tell Mikey!".

I noticed that about the cracks addicts. There were a lot of them. After watching the first 2 episodes of the show it just seems like Muncie really needs more social workers and social programs for drug addicts and the homeless. Arresting them doesn't really solve the problem.

I have watched it. Armed and Famous is really a fun show so far. Loved watching Latoya try to jam in that dollar bill. Loved WeeMan cracking up when he realized they were actually cops
I was also very impressed with the police work they were doing. I know they had alot of support and little time training, but I have to hand it to them. Especially LaToya. I would suspect it's not easy keeping your cool while a big burly man is thrashing about and your cop partner is yelling at him - but she kept it real.
