I'm surprised they got it through the censorship! Read for yourselves:

I don't see why this would be censored. Hell, I'm sure a lot of Iranian artists would slam Ahmadinejad if they could.

Less than a year after Danish cartoonists ignited protests across the Muslim world with their depictions of Muhammad, another group from that country has risked offending Iran's president by calling him a "swine" in a hidden message included an advertisement that got past censors and editors at the Tehran Times.

Gee....that's really cute.

I am going to write to the Danish group Surrend and ask them when they think they'll get around to leveling a bit of criticism at the murderous leaders of the nation on the other side of this issue.

Unlike the nation that Ahdmedinejad is moved to speak out against, I do not see Iran herding multitudes of people into 'refugee' camps only to massacre them later (http://www.guardian.co.uk/israel/Story/0,2763,685701,00.html)

I haven't seen Iranians---driven by religious mania and some wild-eyed superstitious notion gleaned from religious mumbo-jumbo texts telling them that they are 'owed' something--- illegally occupying another nation for 50 years and trying to exterminate the people living there. (http://www.globalexchange.org/campaigns/palestine/topTenReasons.html)

I haven't seen Ahdmedinejad sending any tanks into cities to systematically terrorize and murder the civilian inhabitants of those locales. (http://www.twnside.org.sg/title/2411.htm)

Freethinker walks into a bar down in Alabama and orders a Grape Nehi.

Surprised, the bartender looks around and says "You ain't from around here... where you from, feller?"

Freethinker says, "I'm from Ohio."

The bartender asks, "What do you do up in Ohio?"

FT responds, "I'm a taxidermist."

The bartender asks, "A taxidermist... what the heck is a taxidermist?"

Our hero says, "I mount dead animals."

The bartender smiles and shouts to the whole bar, "It's OK boys, he's one of us!!"

Freethinker shouts angrily, "I'm NOT one of you!! Your President is an ignorant criminal who got us into an illegal, unjustified war, all in order to make his oil-rich friends even richer, and he presides over of cabal of evil, dangerous, wealthy, Gods-n-guns assholes!!"

The entire bar piles onto Freethinker, and beats his ass. Then they throw him out in the parking lot like a sack of 'taters.

Just then, a Rabbi, a Priest, and a kangaroo walks into the bar.....

That is really quite the backhanded "slam".

It doesn't seem like a very brave or effective criticism.

No surprise there.

Those who can mount no refutation or counterpoint are reduced to backhanded slams.

Kinda sad, really.

Hee hee hee!!

There is no refutation or counterpoint when you are arguing with an inflexible, fully-formed adult who has their mind firmly made up on a given issue!!
(In this case, the issue that "the United States is a morally-bankrupt nation, led by criminals and morons". Or words to that effect.)
On that, your mind is thoroughly made up, sir. And there IS no refutation or counterpoint that will do the trick.

You have demonstrated your inflexible, steadfast position (that the US is the worst possible nation in the history of the whole planet, and in this case, that their blind support of the Israelis is a shameful travesty) on every possible occasion, brother Freethinker.

So what's the point in trying to argue with you?
I'd rather just make sport of you, and have some fun with the whole thing.

Sad?
Not really.
I prefer to think of it as humorous.

I made three points in the post that has your panties in such a wad.

I'll reiterate them here.

I do not see Iran herding multitudes of people into 'refugee' camps only to massacre them later (http://www.guardian.co.uk/israel/Sto...685701,00.html)

I haven't seen Iranians illegally occupying another nation for 50 years and trying to exterminate the people living there. (http://www.globalexchange.org/campai...enReasons.html)

I haven't seen Ahdmedinejad sending any tanks into cities to systematically terrorize and murder the civilian inhabitants of those locales. (http://www.twnside.org.sg/title/2411.htm)

If you want to argue against those points, fine. But you don't.

You idea of refutation is to pule -- ""Freethinker takes the position that the President is an ignorant criminal who got us into an illegal, unjustified war, all in order to make his oil-rich friends even richer, hence we should simply ignore the points he's making here."".

I was simply pointing out that it is no refutation at all.

So what's the point in trying to argue with you?

You seem to imply that you HAVE a fucking argument to present....which is false.

You do not argue.

You simply whine --"Aw, that guy says stuff that offends me and a lot of other patriotic 'Muricans, and rubs us the wrong way; ergo, what he says can't possibly be true".

Or, whenever you tire of that, you recite stale jokes or concoct {obviously fancying yourself the most acerbic wit since the gatherings at the Algonquin Round Table} little written skits that you seemingly think are hilarious but that are laughable only in that they are so tedious and juvenile.

I'm not a whiner, friend Freethinker, and it's quite possible that you missed my point; anyone who chooses to engage in a debate with you is engaging in an exercise of futility. I've only been a visitor here for less than a year, and (though I may be just a simple-minded patriotic 'Murican) I am smart enough to have realized that long ago.

I watch the boards for topics and postings that interest me, and if I determine that there is room for debate or discussion on a topic that I am qualified to wade-in on, then I enter accordingly.

All too frequently, the discussion on a given topic has degenerated to the usual partisan-political melee, and there IS no room for debate. (What's the point in trying to enter a bloody knife-fight armed only with words, thoughts, and objectivity? If you're going in there, you may as well be ready to pull out your knife.)

FT, you enter into each and every discussion as though it is a knife-fight to the death. But you don't bring a knife, you come packing a BAZOOKA. You bring words (usually cut and pasted from some anti-American, anti-Government website), you bring thoughts (angry, antagonistic thoughts, marinated in bile), and you are not at all objective; your mind is made up, there's no arguing with you, and if anyone disagrees with even one fragment of your original premise, then they are ignorant, Godz-n-Gunz hayseeds.

Rather than get upset about it, I choose, in most cases, to make sport of the absurdity of it all.

I will cop to posting more than my share of stale, tired 'guy walks into a bar' jokes lately. You have me there, sir. But that is just a phase I am going through, and it will no doubt run its course quite soon.

Now, as to whether my other humorous bits and theater of the absurd vignettes are tedious and juvenile, why don't we put that to a vote?
(I have observed that most of the allforums visitors enjoy my comedy writing, and to date, only you and one other poster have expressed the opinion that I am not a very funny writer.)

What say you, allforums?
Would you rather read my humor, or one of Freethinkers angry diatribes?

3 out of 3 dead links-maybe you should use 'em a lil quicker?

anyhow, Palestine was the King of England's to dispose of as he pleased, which he did. if the local Arabs didn't want to be in camps they should have stayed in their homes instead of getting out of the way of the Arab Armies that set out to destroy Israel in it's infancy (not that it made any difference), and if they didn't want tanks rolling thru those camps maybe they should stop shooting rockets & small arms from the camps?

nah-that couldn't be it! that doesn't fit your rabid "everything America does is wrong" rhetoric. i have the feeling that if GW was an Arab you'd change your tune.

Interesting conversation, considering the original subject. I just thought it funny that the artists made a fool out of mr. Ahmadinejad in the country's highly censored newspapers, and I fail to see what that has to do with Israel. Sparky: I like the comedy writing, keep it up!

FT, what exactly did Israel have to do with this thread to begin with?

Surely you jest.

The Danish group that made the ad were prompted to criticize Ahdminejad in large part because of certain statements he made concerning Israel.

It seems to me that Israel is intrinsically linked to any discussion of Ahdminejad's having been politically "insensitive".

Surrend, the article notes, has already targeted authoritarian leaders in Serbia, Belarus, Turkey, Poland, Sri Lanka, Faroe Islands and Iran. I simply asked when they'd get around to making some critique of the Zionists running Israel who are trying to exterminate the Palestinian people.

That's bullshit (pardon my language). What of North Korea, Zimbabwe etc. There are many questionable regimes in the world who deserves the "wrath" of Surrend. I think Sparky has got a point about your constant critism of Israel.

considering the efficiency that they routinely bitch slap the Arab hordes devoted to slaughtering the Israelis, if there had been any attempt to exterminate the Palestinian people, it would have been done long before the word Palestinian came into being.

maybe you should consider thinking for yourself for a change?

?!?!?

What exactly are you claiming is *bullshit*.......?

What of North Korea, Zimbabwe etc.

What of them? If Surrend wants to ridicule their leaders, more power to them, I say.

There are many questionable regimes in the world who deserves the "wrath" of Surrend.

I agree completely.

I guess where you and I diverge is that you do not include Israel among them.

Haha.. that made me laugh

Now, what I mean by "bullshit", is the notion that you attack Surrend for not criticising Israel, and I don't think that's fair to the group. With so many screwed up regimes in the world, you can't blame them for not doing Israel yet. Many others deserve a good thrashing, and perhaps they'll get to Israel at some point.

And, just so you know, while I do not always agree in your blind critique of israel, I am highly sceptical about several aspects of Israeli policies.

Now, what I mean by "bullshit", is the notion that you attack Surrend for not criticising Israel, and I don't think that's fair to the group.

I will now post -- in its entirety-- every word that I have ever said to or about the group Surrend prior to your responding -- ""That's bullshit"".

""I am going to write to the Danish group Surrend and ask them when they think they'll get around to leveling a bit of criticism at the murderous leaders of the nation (Israel) on the other side of this issue.""___Freethinker

Just because I said that I wanted to ask Surrend when they would include Israel's leaders in those they've been critical of does NOT in any way mean that I am saying they should not be critical of N Korea or Zimbabwe.

Stop thinking in such a stultifyingly binary manner.

With so many screwed up regimes in the world, you can't blame them for not doing Israel yet.

I happen to think that what the Zionist regime in the Middle East is perpetrating now (and for the last several decades) is of FAR more consequence as it regards global politics --and the future of the planet-- than what is happening in places like Zimbabwe.

Many others deserve a good thrashing, and perhaps they'll get to Israel at some point.

Yes, maybe they will.

That is quite possibly the best sentence ever written.
It's got it all; drama, passion, acerbic irony, and a cerebral mandate.
(Plus, I had to look up the word, 'stultify'. How do you like that?)

FT, mind if I borrow that for my first novel?
I think it could quite easily replace Dicken's 'it was the best of times, it was the worst of times' as the all time best sentence in literature.
