In this guessing game “who killed Litvinenko?” the elusive figure of Mario Scaramella seems to be in fact the sole one really worth exploring. His background is murky and mysterious and full of lies. Take this just. He describes himself as an academic though none of the universities in which he claims alignment has confirmed he is. So we can believe no word from him.
There are some episodes in his life being of utmost importance in wake of Litvinenko case. He has been under investigation for smuggling weapons and for being involved in unsolved cases of stolen uranium (!). Further there’s some reliable info about his dealings with Camorra, the Neapolitan mafia. Italian mafia and trafficking of radioactive substances are also available in Litvinenko’s record. Do you believe such amazing sameness could be by chance…. as well as their meeting in sushi bar on that fateful for Litvinenko? I don’t.
Many people close to Russian ex-spy also point to the fact he needed money badly and had been filing compromising stuff on many notorious “celebrities” of Berezovsky like and mafia strongmen.
I am nearly sure Litvinenko was just blackmailing mafia and maybe Scaramella himself. It cost him life.
British detectives should have pressed Scaramella more vigorously imo. He’s definitely part to the murder. Clear as day. Still he was arrested not in Britain but in Italy on some other documented charges. I guess he’s going to stay in Italian prison till Litvinenko’s inverstigation is finished. His arrest in Italy marginally confirms he’s seen as threat by European intelligence community and no stranger to Litvinenko’s murder.
