I thought California was supposed to be the liberal capitol of the United States. What the hell was New York Mayor thinking? His reasoning was because gay's were being picked on. So does that mean soon we will have a "fat person" high school? How about "nerd" high school? This would not be a big deal if they were not using tax payers money to fund this high school. It exclusionary. I thought segregation was a thing of the past. It's being dredged up again, just with different players involved.

California may be the land of fruits & nuts, but New York City is liberal haven. How else do you think the ex-first bitch got elected to an office in a place she'd never called home?

I thought liberals were inclusive and wanted everyone to live together in harmony, where they can learn from each other and resolve their differences. Perhaps not.

As much as I hated getting picked on in school, it was a valuable learning experience. If you're going to be gay in today's society you had better learn how to deal with people heaping abuse on you. Locking them all away in a school by themselves isn't going to teach them anything about life.

Why does the school teach arts and cooking? Seems a little stereotypical to me.

Yes, this seems pretty strange. If there are so many problems with gay people in school, then teach more tolerance to kids, but do not isolate the gay people ! On can't solve this kind of problem just by isolating people (a tendancy already far too strong in our societies).

I'm really waiting to learn how the ACLU chimes in on this latest bit of discrimination.

Magnet schools have been around for a little while. Some are set up for the braniest of the bunch, others are more the "alternative" type, for those inbred brats incapable of behaving properly among their peers.
My son attended a magnet for 'puter geeks, that's how this old man got to learn about them.
