I just thought i'd ask the question. Now when you answer i want you to take a few things into consideration.... including the past games AND the state of the rivalry today...
I can list off a few that i know are pretty heated rivalries:
Packers vs. Vikings
Colts vs. Patriots
Browns vs. Steelers
Cowboys vs. Giants
Rams vs. Seahawks
Browns vs. Ravens
Dolphins vs. Jets
Anyone else have some goodies? then we can talk about which is the best.

Well, the traditional rivalry is the Packers and Bears. It isn't as heated today as it was, but you still see those t-shirts that say "Upon further review the Bears still suck". The games used to be much more heated, and the fan interest greater in decades past. The Bears actually quit staying in Green Bay the night before the game because a crowd used to gather outside their hotel and serenaded them from bar time until dawn just to keep them from sleeping.

The local media tries to drum up attention and call it an east coast rivalry whenever the Falcons play the Panthers, but theres just not enough history there IMO.
My uncle has his own rules about whats a rivalry in the NFL; for him its just whoever is playing the Cowboys, and he roots for whoever that is. He hates the Cowboys. :o

Bears/Packers--oldest, most intense. These two hate each other.
Browns/Steelers--absolute hatred on both sides
Browns/ Ravens--not so much hatred as contempt
Raiders/Broncos--always a good game
Cowboys/Redskins---much hatred here
IU/Purdue---oops, wrong sport

Hell, everyone in the AFC North hates each others' guts. I love it! :corn:

I agree that the Packers/Bears rivalry is possibly the most storied in NFL history but I would have to also agree that it has cooled off in recent years. The problem has been that either the Bears were so bad that they couldn't put up a fight or, as is the case nowadays, the Packers were the bad team. For example witness the 27-0 loss to the Bears in week 1.
I think that the Packers big rivalry nowadays is the Vikings. I can't think of a team cheeseheads hate more.

I think the difference between the Packers - Bears rivalry and the Packers -Vikings rivalry is the respect the Packers fans always had for the Bears. The games were intense, and the desire to win strong, but in the end there was always a core of respect for another team that did things right.
That is missing in the Packers - Vikings rivalry. The Vikings behavior has been less than acceptable many times over the years. They are truly a team that has no class. Witness the day Frank Winters got poked in the eye. If that had been a Packer doing such a thing, he would have been looking for a new job. Instead he was hailed as some kind of hero by the Vikings.

Remember when the Green Bay mayor gave Nathan Poole (of the Arizona Cardinals) a key to the city, solely because of his play against a Vikings reciever that prevented them from getting into the playoffs?
Having said that, yes, Vikings fans have been terrible in the past (probly venting their frustrations, still, from blowing the '98 NFC Championship). That and the way that Former coach Mike Tice handled off-the-field behavior didn't help either. Got arrested? OWI'ed? Sexually harassed/raped someone? No problem, Tice would keep you around regardless. I don't think Denny Green cared much either.
I think Childress' no-nonsense attitude will eventually restore the class that once was the Vikings franchise.

Cowboys/Redskins is the only one I know about...

I dont even ever really remember a decent "cowboys/redskins" rivalry...
The problem with that conference, the one that has the Cowboys, Eagles, Redskins, and Giants... is that the national media jacks off when all of those teams play, when none of them are even that good.
I agree with Carbon.. the AFC conference with the Steelers, Browns, Bengals, and Ravens is probably the most contested and most "filled with hate" conference in the NFL.

Oilers/Steelers used to be a good un.
Remember Bum Phillips and his fancy boots?
Bum got the bum's rush tho, right out the door.
Cowboys/Oilers used to be a good un too, even tho they didn't play a lot--battle for Texas.

Well yeah, the Redskins suck big time... But it's pretty high profile around here, and as my 4 year old sister would say, "The Cowboys eat doodoo!"

yeah, being raised in a Redskins home, I can honestly say that the most hated team in my household is the Cowboys. No matter who they play, the cowboys should lose. Period. I still believe that Deon Sanders was planted in the Redskins a few years ago to sabotage the team.

Leading up to the Colts/Ravens game, I saw a couple of pieces about the Colts moving out of Baltimore to Indy, a bunch of fans were crying about how the Colts were stolen from them, that they had such a history with Baltimore blah blah...
None of them seemed to have a problem with the fact that the Browns were stolen from Cleveland and they all said they would be rooting for the Ravens in the game.

Ironic isn't it? That whole Baltimore/Indy/Cleveland clusterfuck...
Well, you can bet your ass that the Colts/Patriots rivalry will get another chapter this sunday, and further progress it towards one of the tops in the NFL

Brian Bilick is a sack of garbage.
Remember that pregame "speech" he gave to his team a few years ago before the Titans game?
It was one of the worst displays of unsportsmanship I've ever seen--
"F---the Titans!! They SUCK!! We're gonna kick their A--! F--the Titans!""
It sounded like middle-school taunting by a big bully, not something you'd expect to hear from a coach and supposed leader.
But what else should we expect from the Ratbirds?
PS. Bilick is ugly too--so ugly he makes Chris Hovan look like George Clooney.

she is 25. There's not a gridiron man who she hasn't thought at one time or the other, was a cutie.
Unless he's a Bear, Viking, or doesn't look like Brett, who's number one on her hot list.
The day he retires is the day she becomes an ex-Packer fan, I'll bet.

remember that movie Something About Mary? Mary used to date Brett Farve, and then when she told Ben Stiller she actualy wanted to be with him instead of Brett, Stiller said "what about Brett Farve" and Mary said "how many times do I have to tell you? I'm a Niner fan." :D

She is definitly not normal.
If she had any sense, she'd be a Browns fan.
Once she got in a FISTFIGHT with an ex-boyfriend over the Colts-Packers game.
She was mad because a Colts guy actually laid a hand on Bretty kins and sacked him.
Plus she lost over $100 on that game.
They broke up a few days later. Wonder why that was?
