View Full Version : What ever happened to substantive topics?

It seems that the vast majority of recent threads deal with crap, SPAM, games and inanities.
How about some topics with a bit more teeth to them.
I have been just as guilty as the rest in not posting much of substance lately but c'mon, this site is better than that.
How about discussions on the ramifications of the U.S. mid-term elections, the assassination of Pierre Gemayel, etc.. There must be something besides word games.

And we'll all jump in after ya.
But in our defense, we did have some pretty spirited (pun intended) discussions about religion while you were away. Can't blame us if the boards turned into mush while you were out galavanting around the world.

Sorry, Ride... didn't mean to leave you out, but don't remember you participating in that discussion. I was accused of killing the thread, so I shut up. Sho nuff, it was dead.

Okay, here goes.
I thnk Reagan would still be the darling of the Republican Party. Those presently in power are not true representatives of the Republican Party as was shown by their decisive repudiation in the mid-term elections. The President and his administration can more correctly be described as neo-Conservatives than Republicans. U.S, foreign policy, rather than being based on what is best for the United States was based on finishing the job Bush Senior started and offering unconditional and unwavering support to Israel.

We had those discussions while you were away. Traffic has slowed down considerably for the past few months, and Smartmouthwoman and her gang of rejects have been raping chat central.

While I find your welcoming remarks rather abrasive, one would hope there is room here for people who prefer to discuss the real world as well as psuedo intellectuals such as yourself who like to flap their wings as well as their jaws.
Warmest personal regards,

It is heart-warming, isn't it, Smarty? Wonder if we should move on? Sounds as if you and your rejects aren't too welcome here anymore...

Yes, I like it here, too and most everyone, including the mods, have welcomed us, so guess this "band" of gypsies will stay put for a while, huh?

Ah, chivalry........
Sorry, guys. Speaking personally, I like having you around--it's always nice to have new people.
Frogger, I'd discuss politics more if the subject weren't so incredibly boring. And useless.
What we need is a good juicy murder trial to salivate over.

How about...hmmm...o.k., the Democrats want to give away the country and the Republicans want to sell it.

It's nice to know not everyone wishes we'd go back where we came from. Guess the 'gentleman' in question has yet to learn how to use that ignore feature.

P.S. Frogger, have to agree -- the only thing more boring to me than discussing politics is discussing WHAT IF's about dead politicians. Now if you wanna talk future possibilities... like do you think Rudy Guiliani might run? Or what are the chances Texas' own recently re-elected gov, Rick Perry, might have? That's interesting to me.

You care to elaborate on that comment? I don't see anything that the gang from Yahoo is doing that's the least troublesome, and I'd venture that many others posting here share my view. "They" aren't keeping anyone from posting, not monopolizing any threads nor have they requested anything but a bit of space. Since you're not paying for any of this, what's your concern? I welcome their input and their lack of needing to be "policed" in any way.

With a forum with such a diverse range of people and views not everyone is going to like everything. One nice thing is to show respect of others that post.
You may not share their views or like their topics but you can respect they have a right to post them and to voice an opinion. You also have the right to comment back on it if you so choose to or stay out.
I have found this forum full of interesting and some silly threads but that is the beauty of a forum and little bit of everything thrown into one.:)

Smartmouthwoman,
You and your gang of theives are welcome here as far as I'm concerned. You have one thread that you use for chit chat and many of you join in the other threads when the spirit moves you. I see you hurting no one and in fact, adding to the site.
Don't mind Evakian. He has been all pissy lately. I think someone might have stolen his Pablum because he has really been cranky.

It's fairly entertaining, at times, to see some of these guys acting like THEY are the ones with PMS or something. Thanks for your remarks, though. We really mean no harm to anyone....we were just looking for a place we could keep in touch with each other and hopefully make some friends along the way, which I have.....

I'm going to have to claim the "SMW and her gang of rejects" phrase as my very own. Evakian and I were chatting, and he was so taken by the phrase and it's uncanny similitude to truth that he just had to get out there and use it in a post. I applaud the kid for having a good pair of testicles on him, and shall look beyond his current inability to back it up by doing so now. I would have said it earlier, but I was rather indisposed.
So, yes, gang of rejects. Direct your questions here.

There's really nothing you could teach me. Your opinions are basically trash as far as this "reject" is concerned. But, thanks for the invitation!
