View Full Version : Let's get a few things straight.

I feel this is the perfect time to address this fall’s network broadcasting schedule. Last season, myself and other fans of the Fox Sunday night lineup were getting pretty damn sick of ballgames taking the place of important shows such as The Simpsons, King of the Hill, and Malcolm in the Middle. Those sports broadcasters have all day to show their ballgames, so why the hell do they have wait until evening and rob me of my favorite shows. When 7:00 rolls around, their airtime SUPPOSED to be over. Sports broadcasts have NO BUSINESS being on the air after 7:00 PM. Therefore, I feel it is necessary to get a few things straight before the fall season.

First of all, I personally don’t think ballgames should be shown on network television at all. Sports broadcasting should be limited to the Sports Channel, that way sports fans can watch their ballgames whenever they want to and it won’t interfere with my TV shows. If the games absolutely MUST be shown on network television, sports broadcasters should be required to sign a written agreement stating that their airtime ends at 7:00 PM. No matter what! If the game isn’t over by 7:00, TOO BAD! They should’ve started sooner!

I think this is a reasonable request. After all, it’s only fair.

Let me try a different question. CAN you explain that?

It's probably an inherited quality, therefore there's nothing you can do about it.

OK, let me try asking it a different way: are you mentally capable of producing an explanation?

I must have my Simpsons!!!!...which are usually directly after whatever sports thingy they have on on Fox.

Not when they have that damn “overtime.” Someone needs to tell those sports jerk-offs that they don’t own network broadcasting!

Can't expect a coward to understand competitive contests. Keep it going mopo, many are laughing at your histrionics.

Competitive contests belong on the Sports Channel, NOT network television.

Maybe they should come up with one more fox network just for the game, then everyone could be happy.

Networks are chasing the almighty dollar. Sporting events & their advertisers pay hugely. Until you send enough cash monthly to the networks to sway their attention from NASCAR, the NBA, the NFL, or MLB, you're just going to have to hold your breath till you turn blue. At least that will bring 1 desired result.

Exactly, and why is that? It's because a lot of people do watch sports. The more people that are watching whatever show is on are likely to also watch the commercials. Hence, whatver has more viewers has more valuable commercials. This is why Super Bowl commercials are so costly. The Super Bowl is almost always the most watched show of the year. And that's the way that TV works. Whatever gets ratings is shown. It's a business, after all, and TV stations are trying to make money.

If the sports broadcasters are so rich, why can’t they buy their own damn channel? Come to think of it, wasn’t that what the Sports Channel was invented for?

World Series and the Superbowl attracts more fans that the regular shows. Also they can re-brodcast the regular at anytime. They usually only get around 20 new shows a year for the simpsons and stuff like that. If the Major networks did not make money showing these big sporting events they would stop that.

Just my two cents

I’m not necessarily talking about the Super Bowl, I’m talking about games that are scheduled to end at 7:00 PM but go into overtime and end up taking off half of Futurama and sometimes half of The Simpsons. As if this wasn’t enough, they actually have the audacity to show the last five minuets of the program after the game ends! What’s the point? This only adds salt to the wounds.

*whispers very, very quietly*

See that button there? That changes the channel.

See that other button there? That turns the TV -off-.

*oohs and ahhs from the audience*

I can’t just change the channel because the Fox Network is the only thing worth watching on Sunday night. If they were to show the games on NBC I would be perfectly happy!

you say it doesnt belong to the sports people to have their sports shown on the tv stations of YOUR shows. what makes you think they are YOURS? if they dont belong to them they deffinatly dont belong to you either. get over it.

If there is anyone in this world that can live without the simpsons, i fear for their futures and their lives. Everyone needs the simpsons...Borgy could agree with this one.
