Another year older and another year of being shit on by the forces that be. For the last two days, I couldn't log on, because I kept getting my password wrong. Finally I gave up and just reset the damn thing. Thanks to the b-day greeting from the board. Well I have finally got two strong leads.
The strongest is being an emergency roadside operator for AAA. I went for testing and an interview today, everything went very well. I would like this type of thing, I'll actually be helping someone. (not selling. :p ) The cons: are the pay at $8.06 an hour and the shift would be evening. I don't even have the job yet and my wife is already bitching about the shift. I don't mind late shifts personally, I'm kind of a nightowl to begin and as far as the pay. It's more than unemployment pays so I don't see such a problem.
The other is with more pay with the local 911 center. Again the opportunity to help someone, but obviously have to wonder about the stress involved. The pay is better at about $10 an hour. Still no idea of the shift though. The thing is, I submitted application three weeks ago. Yesterday I went in for a 12 min. personality test (kind of reminded me of a mini-SAT test). If I pass that then I'll be called in for observation, then called back some other time for an aptitude test, then one more time for an interview. So who knows how long this will all take. It took three weeks to get in there for the 1st phase.
So hopefully something will turn out. At this point I'm leaning towards AAA since it seems to be progressing on a more normal time schedule. Also while still helping people, I don't think it would be as stressful. Still I would like more money so who knows. The thing is if offered a job I'm taking it, I just don't feel comfortable waiting for the unknown.
My mother in law's b-day was wednesday and my brother in law's b-day is tomorrow. So the family had one large dinner for everyone on wednesday. I wanted to go to my favorite steakhouse, but no we had to go to this discount Italian place. On Wednesday's they have all you can eat Pasta and salad for $6. Well there's a reason they gotta have a discount night. Chef Boyardee tastes better. My in-laws also got me three WV t-shirts, my grandmother gave me $30 that my wife took. Of course the absolutely best gift was being awakened this morning by Evan "Dad! Dad! Dad! Do you know what today is? . . . It's your BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!" Followed by a huge hug. Nothing beats that.
Well I'm 38 and I'm allright. Could be richer, but I've been poorer so I'll not complain. Later Gators. :p
