Retailers in Los Angeles, New York and Miami say more and more young, urban, heterosexual men are choosing to dress in women's tight, low-slung jeans and to use stylish lotions, fragrances and hair-care colors and products, according to June reports in the Los Angeles Times and New York Times. Some marketers call men who are eager to embrace their feminine sides "Metrosexuals" and point to English soccer star David Beckham (who braids his hair and paints his fingernails) as an icon. On July 15, the Bravo cable channel will air a makeover show, "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy." [Los Angeles Times, 6-21-03; New York Times, 6-23-03]

Is androgynous behavior gaining popularity?

I know a bunch of redneck hunters that wear pantyhose during hunting season it helps keep them warm(or atleast that's what they say)Maybe it just gives them that warm fussy feeling inside :D

It's getting hard to tell who you can whistle at anymore especially from the back side. DAMN cross dressers, the world is going to he**.

This is not really knew. Back in the seventies the hippy and glam fashions had the same sexual ambiguity. During the 80's, new wave fans used eye makup and lipstick.
And what about Renaissance men whose suits were as precious and colourful as women's ?

I think than, more than a sexual evolution, it is a matter of fashion and marketing.

Precicely. Take Dee Snider as one example. It's fashion, he doesn't look that way now, now does he? I heard the mullet was coming back in style amongst the older ones who cut it in the ninties, and are now growing it again. Long hair had been attached to women, and thats why people went "HOLY SHIT" when the Beatles came out with their outrageously long hair.

Not to mention, cross dressing is fun. Putting on makeup, messing with your hair, painting your nails, shaving your legs, it's fun. Something most men don't do, so its also exotic and new. Before you ask, yes I have a couple of times. Except there was a bit more presuring me on... ;)

A "mullet" is a nickname for a hairstyle, an appalling hairstyle commonly associated with America's poor white males and lesbians. It basically consists of short hair in front of and on the sides of the head, long hair in back.

and this isn't technically cross-dressing that they are speaking of... I wear low rise jeans, use fashionable, designer "product" in my hair and sometimes use lotion (not the sparkly kind) and I sure as hell don't look like a cross-dresser (former U.S.M.C.). It just means men are becoming more open to the luxuries women enjoy, not donning pumps and mini-skirts ;)

I just checked the Mullet site. Thanks god this has not reached France ! Germans and Dutch sometimes have a similar haircut but with shorter hair on the back.
