The National Toy Hall of Fame has inducted the cardboard box as its latest member. Here is a link to their web site.

What was your favorite toy? Mine was my "Old Betsy Musket" and Davy Crockett Coonskin Hat.

I liked building blocks, our big regrigerater box, and our Barbies.

We liked to pull their heads off, put the heads on a pencil, and run around pretending to be cannibals, besides throwing them up on the roof.

It was also fun playing catch with Dad. He taught us to throw with deadly accuracy, a skill that's stood me in good stead.

My bike was probably my favorite toy as a youngster. As I got older my attention turned to the computer, where it is now.

Definitely Legos.

Mine were a bicycle and the erector set (http://www.hobbyengineering.com/SectionBE.html). Before Legos were a hit in the U.S., the erector set was the toy to have.

I had an erector set, but it had already gone half plastic by the time I got one.

Tinker toys were another favorite. With 3 boys in the household within a 6yr span we must have had a bushel basket of the wooden delights. Erector sets were all metal when I enjoyed them. Lots of little parts. Train sets were common.

Wow, I guess I didn't have one special one... kind of liked them all. Mickey the monkey my first gift as an infant is one I still have so I guess it's the cuddle toy I like best.

I constructed many a building with Lincoln Logs. I had a host of Hot Wheels cars, back when they were actual toys and not what the motorheads collect these days, takes the childishness out of them. I had the erector set. The cool one came with electric motors, pulleys and rubber bands for drive.

What about Tonka Trucks? I still have all of mine. The crane, dump truck, fire engine, road grader, and of course the bull dozer. They're built alot different now. I don't think they would hold up these days.

Good times, good times indeed.
