Marquez's prior felony convictions, including rape and burglary, were taken into consideration in determining the sentence.

He spit on the officer. That is the charge. The defendant has been tested for diseases and has none. It should be a simple assault charge. Not life in prison. Even with his prior convictions.

Heard the story on the evening news. Got to wonder what in the world is happening in OK -- jails aren't full enough? Now the taxpayers there will fund the spittor's appeals, most likely all the way to the Supreme Court. What a travesty.

Borg nailed it on the head. The reason the guy's going to prison for life is due to the other crimes, not the spitting. Sounds like the guy should have been imprisoned for life a long time ago.

What gets me is Havok is so eager to send a woman to prison for 50 years for accidentally running over a guy and trying to cover it up, and now he wants to see an established rapist and thief get out. Geez, who deserves to be in prison longer here? Is the answer not ovious to everyone else here.

But he didnt rape anyone in this crime. He spit .

if we took him out back and executed him after the trial we wouldnt be having this conversation, and we would have very few spitters in our midst as well.
