Heard this also on NPR today - made me laugh

After being verbally attacked by a German MEP - he replied that he knew a guy in Italy who was making a film on Nazi concentration camps and he would be perfect for the part of Camp commander.

All this on the first day of Italy having the EU presidency with Berlusconi in the seat. Caused an uproar - especially as he will not apologise

Good for him - the remark was funny & all institutions like the EU need a shake up now and again.

The Italians have tolerated decades of "harassment" from (primarily) the Western world for the Mother's And Father's Italian Association quite well. Good for Mr. Berlusconi for turning the tables on the Germans. The Krauts need a little shaking now & then.
