It was very good, nay, great! That and V for Vendetta have been the two movies to see this year.

Oh, and Borat. :D

I thought the film had a subpar storyline that was just worked well with an extremely rare combination of superior acting talent.

The film itself was disappointing in that it by far the tamest and least groundbreaking of any Scorcese film to date.

I do think it has an outside shot of winning Best Picture, though, due soley to its strong boxoffice and superior acting.

Scorsese didn't make up the story line, sorry. This film is a direct tribute to the Hong Kong movie "Internal Affairs" from about 3 years ago. That movie got rave reviews in Asia. The Departed pays tribute to that movie to the point where this cannot be really called a remake as much as a re-enactment. This movie in my opinion was superior to the original in some ways but inferior in other ways. Both are great movies.

I got a friend, Cai, who lived in China and seen the original film - and says this one is in no way even a comparison. He says the dirty language is the worst part.

With a great cast and a superb story, who wouldn't like The Departed?

The Departed was a good film of Leonardo di Caprio and Matt Damon of 2006...I 3 reason I have three reasons why I kinda like this film, was DiCaprio did a pretty good job of going crazy and showing turmoil, the way Scorsese makes a film is always interesting, and Mark Wahlberg, for reasons stated above. Other then that, the movie was long, the characters were not engaging, chemistry was lacking, and story was overall just OK. I really had high hopes for this movie, but ended up being overall disappointed. I enjoyed it, it was worth watching, but it didn't live up to my expectations. But as I heard from the news , this film won but not sure what?
Anyway, guys, there is a good news for everyone..Sean Bean,Danny Dyer and Bob Hoskins can be watch finally at the cinema on friday on his Outlaw film by Nick Love..

I'm curious how the characters weren't engaging. I mean, c'mon. Ol' Jack was fantastic, Baldwin was great, Sheen did a solid job... really everyone did a solid job. And yeah, them movie was long. But if it's a solid film length no longer becomes an issue. A film being described as "long" is synonomous with "boring". And the story, while yes taken from Internal Affairs, was fantastic. I'm just amazed at those that find this film not up to their standards... :@@:

Departed was a past film since 2006 of Leonardo DiCaprio and Matt Damon..And it was descent film and good film...One of their achievements..The acting was great, the dialogues are witty and fun, great directing, and the pacing was so fast and every scene was well thought of that no secene was wasted. It was real fun.

To judge the betterness of the film will basically base on the story about and the way the cast delivers their role..Since I did not heard any upcoming film of Di Caprio, more fun to watch an action film...

Being a huge scorsese fan i was hugely disapointed with this film and how scorsese continues to use a di caprio and claim how good he is. Anyway, the film sounds received an award and not sure if I heard right...

More curious to watch a horror film like Mellissa George has...
A serial killer is cutting an equation into the victims' corpses: 'wz = Cov (w.z)...' And loved ones of the victims, who've been brutally tortured, are tormented and suicidal.

Could you explain why exactly you were disappointed with The Departed? It seems to not only be a film that has a just majority loving it, but a massive majority. It's easily a top 10 film in my eyes. But I can see some thinking its only "good" or "alright", fine. But disappointed? Really??
