1.Chicago Bears-(7-0)-The Bears crushed the San Francisco 49ers, 41-10 in Chicago. The Bears matched a franchise record by scoring 41 points in the first half against the 49ers. The last time the club did this was in 1948 against the Washington Redskins. Chicago's offense rolled up 402 yards on the day. QB Rex Grossman threw for 252 yards, while completing 23 of 29 passes and throwing three TD's. Grossman ranks 11th in the NFL with a quarterback ranking of 89.6. TE Desmond Clark caught six passes for 86 yards and two TD's. RB Thomas Jones rushed for 111 yards on 23 carries and scored one TD. Chicago has the top-rated defense in the NFL, allowing 245.9 yards per game. CB Charles Tillman led the Bears defense with eight tackles. Next game Nov. 5th against the Miami Dolphins in Chicago.
2.Indianapolis Colts-(7-0)-The Colts beat the Denver Broncos, 34-31 in Denver. FGK Adam "Mr. Clutch" Vinatieri kicked a 37 yard FG to win the game for his team, with seconds to spare. And what else can be said about Peyton Manning? This guy is incredible during the regular season. Manning tore Denver's secondary to shreds. Throwing for 345 yards and three touchdowns. Manning completed 32 of 39 passes. WR Reggie Wayne was no less spectacular, catching 10 passes for 138 yards and three TD's. Rookie RB Joseph Addai out of LSU rushed for 93 yards on 17 carries. Addai has now rushed for 447 yards so far this season. Averaging 5.1 yards per carry. LB Gary Brackett led the Colts defense with 13 tackles. On the downside, the Colts rank last in the NFL in rushing defense, allowing 167.9 yards per game. By the way, the Colts became the first team to start 7-0 in consecutive seasons since the 1929-31 Green Bay Packers did it three straight times. 3.New England Patriots-(6-1)-The Patriots beat the Minnesota Vikings, 31-7 in Minnesota on MNF. All this team does year after year is win. QB Tom Brady completed 29 of 43 passes for 372 yards and four TD's. TE Ben Watson caught seven passes for 95 yards and one TD. WR Reche Caldwell caught seven passes for 84 yards and one TD. New England's CB Ellis Hobbs returned an interception for a 70 yard return during the contest. The Patriots defense had four sacks on the night. LB Mike Vrabel led the defense with seven sacks. Rookie Lawrence Maroney out of the University of Minnesota returned a kickoff for 74 yards during the third quarter. Next game Nov.5th against the Indianapolis Colts in New England.
4.Baltimore Ravens-(5-2)-The Ravens beat up on the New Orleans Saints, 35-22 in New Orleans. The Ravens offense rolled up 403 yards on the day. QB Steve McNair completed 17 of 23 passes for 159 yards and two TD's. He rushed for one TD. RB Jamal Lewis rushed for 109 yards on 31 carries. TE Todd Heap caught three passes for 47 yards and one TD. Rookie CB Ronnie Prude out of LSU caught an interception in the second quarter and returned it for a 12 yard score. In the third quarter, another rookie Dwan Landry out of Georgia Tech returned an interception back for a 12 yard TD. LB Ray Lewis led the Ravens defense with seven tackles. Baltimore's defense ranks third overall in the NFL, allowing 273.6 yards per game. Next game Nov. 5th against the Cincinnati Bengals in Baltimore.
5.Denver Broncos(5-2)-The Broncos lost to the Indianapolis Colts, 34-31 at home in Denver. QB Jake Plummer completed 13 of 21 passes for 174 yards. Maybe its time to see what rookie Jay Cutler can do for an offense that ranks 19th overall in the NFL. Rookie RB Mike Bell out of the University of Arizona rushed for 136 yards on 15 carries and scored two TD's. The Broncos rank third overall in the NFL in rushing offense, averaging 155.3 yards per game. WR Javon Walker caught four passes for 40 yards and one TD. LB Ian Gold led the defense with nine tackles. Next game Nov. 5th against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Pittsburgh.
6.Atlanta Falcons-(5-2)-The Falcons beat the Cincinnati Bengals, 29-27 in Cincinnati. QB Michael Vick helped his team win again with his arm. Vick completed 20 of 28 passes for 291 yards and threw three TD's. He also ran for 55 yards on nine carries. Vick has already rushed for 496 yards this season, averaging 8.3 yards per carry. Wow! RB Warrick Dunn rushed for 57 yards on 20 carries. The Falcons rank first in the NFL in rushing offense, averaging 210.9 yards per game. TE Alge Crumpler caught four passes for 72 yards and one TD. WR Michael Jenkins caught a 26 yard TD pass from Vick in the third quarter. FGK Morten Andersen kicked three field goals on the day, his longest was a 42 yarder in the first quarter. This guy is 46 years old. He reminds you of George Blanda who played for the Oakland Raiders. As for the Falcons defense, LB Keith Brooking led the team with nine tackles. 7.San Diego Chargers-(5-2)-The Chargers beat the St. Louis Rams, 38-24 in San Diego. QB Phillip Rivers completed 15 of 23 passes for 206 yards and one TD. Outstanding running back LaDainian Tomlinson rushed for 183 yards on 25 carries and scored two rushing TD's. He also caught three passes for 57 yards and a TD. Tomlinson also acheived a milestone Sunday by surpassing 8,000 rushing yards for his six-year career. He also tied Emmitt Smith, as the second-fastest player to score 90 TD's, in 86 games. The quickest was Jim Brown, in 81 games. TE Antonio Gates caught five passes for 66 yards. On defense, Chargers LB Shawne "Wildman" Merriman had three sacks on the day. LB Donnie Edwards had 13 tackles on the day. Edwards leads the entire defense with 48 tackles on the season. Next game Nov. 5th against the Cleveland Browns in San Diego.
8.New York Giants(5-2)-The Giants defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 17-3 at New York. QB Eli Manning completed 16 of 31 passes for 154 yards and one TD. RB Tiki Barber rushed for 68 yards on 26 carries. Barber leads the NFL in rushing with 715 yards. RB Brandon Jacobs rushed for one TD while rushing for 41 yards on seven carries. Jacobs a two year veteran played his college ball at Southern Illniois. WR Plaxico Burress caught seven passes for 86 yards and one TD. LB Antonio Pierce led the Giants defense with eight tackles. Next game Nov. 5th against the Houston Texans at New York.
9.New Orleans Saints-(5-2)-The Saints looked liked the old 'Aints' and got beat by the Baltimore Ravens, 35-22 in New Orleans. New Orleans played sloppy most of the day. They were penalized 10 times for 68 yards. RB Reggie Bush lost a fumble and rushed for only 16 yards. QB Drew Brees threw for 383 yards and completed 24 of 45 passes and tossed three TD's. But he threw three interceptions on the day and was sacked twice. Rookie WR Marques Colston had a great day catching six passes for 163 yards and two TD's. Colston now has 33 receptions on the year with 577 yards in receiving. WR Joe Horn caught five passes for 126 yards and one TD. As for the defense, safety Omar Stoutmire led the Saints with 10 tackles. Kick returner Michael Lewis returned six kickoffs for 136 yards. Next game Nov. 5th against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Tampa.
10.Cincinnati Bengals-(4-3)-The Bengals lost to the Atlanta Falcons, 29-27 in Cincinnati. QB Carson Palmer completed 24 of 36 passes for 266 yards and two TD's. RB Rudi Johnson rushed for 46 yards on 12 carries and scored one TD. WR Chad Johnson caught six passs for 78 yards and one TD. The Bengals defense gave up 420 yards to the Falcons. DE Justin Smith had 12 tackles on the day and half a sack. Next game Nov. 5th against the Baltimore Ravens in Baltimore. This game will tell a lot about Cincinnati's character.
