After exchanging posts with some people who seem insistent about knocking on Al Gore and his recent film, I was wondering how many people have seen the film and what they thought of it.
I suspect the people who haven't seen "An Inconvenient Truth" are the people who are the ones who are most willing to knock on it, and it just strikes me as incredably rash to attack a film without seeing it, no?
Anyways, I'll start with my opinion of the film.
A) I think it was brilliant in the way it simplified a complex issue (Global Warming) into an understandable format.
B) Admittedly, it had scenes interjected into the film that gave a glimpse into Gore's personal life which could be interpreted as self-glorifying. However, I think those scenes are what gave the movie an emotional quality which is necessary to sell the film as entertainment. Besides, who in their right mind would make a film and then not present a positive image of themselves to the public?
C) I was pleased with the fact that I didn't notice any partisan cheap shots like those constantly made by Michael Moore or Rush Limbaugh. This lent a certain authenticity to the film for me.
Overall, I enjoyed the film immensely and found it very inspiring. Anyone else?
