NASA is debating on whether to fix and upgrade the Humble telescope. Astronomers say it is the most important piece of equipment they have ever had. More has been discovered with it then rest of astronomy history. NASA says too risky and expensive. How we fix it and upgrade it?

My gut ( and it is a very large gut ) says yes Fix it. But then my brain ( the size of which has always been debatable ) gets in the way and thinks of all of the other uses that money could go to. I'll have to think about it some more, maybe take a Tums or something. Hell I could just have gas.

They're going to fix the Hubble. I read that in the news somewhere.
Secondly, money spent on research is NEVER wasted. EVER! Better that millions are spent getting Hubble fixed or a better telescope be put into space rather than have it blown on government giveaways.
Government giveaways don't expand our knowledge. I'd rather know, damit.

For once we agree on something. The Hubble should absolutely be fixed. The knowledge gained is definitely worth the expense.

Better to fix it than to send it on a burn & crash mission through Earth's atmosphere.

Unless they have a better and less expensive one to replace it with, I too say "Fix it"

Secondly, money spent on research is NEVER wasted. EVER!Very true. Now if we could only apply that reasoning to embryonic stem cell research in addition to the Hubble telescope ...

It was announced that NASA finally decided to fix it. Here is what I stumbled on. (http://www.redorbit.com/news/space/718704/saving_the_hubble__nasa_planning_repair_mission_in _2008/index.html?source=r_space)
