The US is virtually split down the middle politically. The debate is becoming more and more acrimonious with vitriolic language becoming the norm. Thank goodness these political lines are not completely represented by geographical lines. If they did, it seems the country may well become embroiled in another civil war.
As it is, expressions of hatred and expressions of violence are not uncommon. The situation is exacerbated by the number of illegal immigrants and the resultant frustration of the US citizens.
Are these expressions of violence, rancour and bitterness indicative of a seething unrest in many Americans?
Are Americans about to become so passionate about the present situation that they are likely to express their distaste in a physical manner? I trust not. However the increasing level of diatribe is more than a little disturbing.
Alternatively, is it just Americans indulging in their right to free speech and the language used just an expression of their enthusiasm ?
