Why do people emigrate?
I can understand those Caucasians that leave their home countries and come to North America. They want a better life, more opportunity, etc. For most of them they will be coming to a country with somewhat similar cultures, religion, etc. Sure they realize the language may be different but that's not a major problem. These immigrants seem to assimilate relatively easily and settle into North American way of life. The same can be said for many other races.
Is this also true for many members of the Islamic faith? From the news reports it would appear not. Many Western type countries seem to have difficulty with Muslim immigrants. I wonder why? In particular, why do they continue to come, when they must be aware of the problems they will be facing?

To infiltrate? Infiltrate means to penetrate with hostile intent. I see no hostile intent.
To take over? Do you really think that each Mexican has an intent to take over the US?

Check my post, the part of the original post that I responded to said nothing about Mexicans.

Yes, they have already started using the courts to make their practices acceptable in the U.S. by court order.
Most have complained about any Christian intents in politics or courts; wait until the Muslims gain power.

So the goal of Christians is to take over the world? I always thought it was to convert them and offer salvation :)

I think the majority of people emigrate because they want a better life with more opportunity for themselves and their children. A few Chinese people that I have worked with escaped from China many, many years ago. They fled because the promise of freedom meant more to them than the risk of death for leaving. China has changed a lot since then but their life here is far more prosperous and secure than anything they could have hoped for living in the small country villages where they were born.
The west is still viewed as a place of hope, a place of freedom, a chance to better oneself and give future generations a chance also.
I do not know many members of the Islamic faith. The one woman I know came here to my country (Canada) because it meant freedom from the berka and freedom from the misogynistic attitude of her country. I know she appreciates the opportunities that have been afforded her. I do not know what the average Muslim thinks or feels about my country. The area in which I live has a visible number of Muslim women that wear the hijab but they do not seem to ever be with other more Westernized muslims. They seem to stay within their own small group. When you speak to them, they are pleasant enough and always seem to understand English. They really seem to have no desire to chat only to complete their business and move on.
It is rather confusing. I feel less open minded than I once did but not based on any bad personal experience. I think that is too bad but that is reality. I am frequently working with the public and meet groups often… it has been my experience that they do not extend themselves.

Maybe.
However, America's toast anyway, Jester. Another 50 years, and 60% of our populace will be of Mexican descent. Our days of reigning supreme monetarily are over, for historically speaking, the Mexicans have never known how to make money, and they probably never will. The only thing they definitively know how to do is make babies and knife "Gringos". The Muslims are a pain in the ass, however I don't see them as our biggest threat. Rest assured, though - our country's going to hell in a hand basket, Tijuana style; it's only a matter of time.

Bound to be knocked from it's pre-eminent spot as the hegemonic power? Yes. Toast? No.
Another 50 years, and 60% of our populace will be of Mexican descent.
So?
Our days of reigning supreme monetarily are over, for historically speaking, the Mexicans have never known how to make money, and they probably never will.
A: As the Mexicans become Americans, are raised in our society, and grow into income-makers, I doubt their historical ineptitude in economics will remain.
B: Our days of "reigning supreme" have always been numbered. I doubt we'll even be in that spot for another 4 decades, much less 5. China is exploding, as is India, and with their vastly superior numbers it is inevitable that they will eclipse us. They're tigers about to pounce, and they should. It's social Darwinism. Learn to accept it.
The only thing they definitively know how to do is make babies and knife "Gringos". The Muslims are a pain in the ass, however I don't see them as our biggest threat. Rest assured, though - our country's going to hell in a hand basket, Tijuana style; it's only a matter of time.

You made known once again you are a racist Prae, you're acting as though Americans increasingly becoming brown-skinned and black haired is something bad. You also seem to enjoy stereotyping for the sake of being inflammatory. Way to go!

I didn't say you did, but you certainly painted Mexicans in a bad light and have a dim outlook on our future because of their massive migration here. Emphasis mine:

That is fine Jester, my yes, instead of some or not all, is based upon the Islamic teachings that they are to triumph over all infidels. If they do not feel this way they are not Muslims.

Not because they're "Mexican", per se; it's because these people aren't educated, they speak a different language, and, as an ancillary benefit to the taxpayers, our government will be forced to pick up the slack through programs and give-a-ways because these people have virtually nothing to offer us. This isn't racism; it's a fact - (and how did you put the social Darwinism remark again: "deal with it"?) The future isn't looking so bright there, you smarmy little goody-goody. I suggest you look around.

There is a simple reason why people emigrate--they think they'll be happier in the new country! How accurately their expectation will materialize is highly varied.
I believe, that at this time I will bow out of the Muslim discussion.
I have voiced my opinion, and that is all they are, the discussions on this thread are taking a personal turn. This takes away the progressive learning process.
Time will tell whether the cautious or uncautious were correct.

Thanks to everyone for their replys to my remarks.I apologize if I made it personal, but the idea that Muslims immigrate to the US to infiltrate it is just off the wall. Muslims still only make up a small percentage of the population and have little political or economic power. The number and influence of fundamentalist Muslims in the US is even smaller, almost to the point of insignificance. It's good to be cautious, but not when you're cautious about the wrong thing.

As did some or many of your ancestors most likely.
You’re very right, however there are a few major differences between the two: namely, my ancestors wanted to learn English, loved this country, valued education, and BUILT this nation. 95% of the Mexicans are here to do nothing more than exploit it, and anyone who argues with that is an idealistic fool.
Yes, the comments: "However, America's toast anyway, Jester. Another 50 years, and 60% of our populace will be of Mexican descent. I'll admit - part of it was anger, and my comments were inappropriate - in particular, the "knifing gringos and making babies" part; however, I stand by my original statement that Mexicans, historically speaking, have never known how to make money, and to revise it a bit - WON'T know how to make money (read; be an asset to this country) for probably (and this figure is conservative at best) 50 years.
