I've just returned from viewing the film. The local VFW sponsored the first showing and invited all area Veterans to attend free of charge.

It's well worth seeing. It's not all blood, gore & guts, but a large portion of it is. Well done Clint Eastwood!

It's an excellent book too.

Clint Eastwood is such a good director. I look forward to this film.

I was impressed by this film in that it did not rely on heavy marketable stars to carry the film in the box office (i.e. Saving Private Ryan). While the film was almost herky-jerky at points with its flashbacks and flashforwards....it flowed nicely enough to be followed readily easily.

I think the film will weather the storm of early negative boxoffice and still stand a storng Oscar contender in many categories. The film and it's director are probably givens...while I can also see a supporting actor nomination going to Adam Beach for his portrayl of Native American-turned hesitant hero-turned alcoholic hestitant hero Ira Hayes.

After seeing it, I can say it was decent. It deserves no awards outside special effects and costuming, but it wasn't a waste of money.

I thought it was amazing. It's not like the story or plot was especially compelling, but it's jaw dropping to see just what these people went through on that hellish island, not to mention how the government happily used them for PR.
