When I was a teenager back in the 1970's, I used to ride my motorcycle out to this girls house out in Ozark. She was friendly enough, and ultra-funny (good looking too), but she always seemed kind of guarded and evasive.

I rode out there on a chilly Saturday morning one time, and nobody answered the door. I peeked in thru the little windows on the front door, and the place was empty.

A neighbor came out of his house just as I was saddling up to go, and he told me that the family that lived there had suddenly packed up and moved out in the middle of the night.

Never did find out what happened to that girl, or why she left.
(Maybe her dad forged some checks too.)

I remember parts of Ozark from my time at Fort Rucker in late '68 - early '69. Haven't been back since. For some strange reason it was called the "wire grass country" back then, haven't a clue what they call it these days.
