How can this woman think that using a veil to take a driver's license picture be proper? I mean, honestly, there could be anyone under a veil. She makes allegations that her freedoms are being taken away by not being allowed to do this. WHat freedom would that be? Driving in this country is a privilege, not a right. No one is telling her to not wear a veil in public, no one is saying she cannot wear one in her home. All this country is saying is that she cannot wear one while driving. ANd i agree 100% with the Florida judge on this. She is trying to make a case for her religious freedom. I dont see that angle either.

The judge was absolutely right. Want to drive? Lose the veil, or take public transportation. Real simple. It's got nothing to do with her religion.

"Hey, can you turn off that security camera? It's against my religion to be on camera. Hey thanks. Now give me all the money in the register."

Exactly. Letting her hide behind the veil would be setting a dangerous precedent. All sorts of criminals out there would be trying to use this to their advantage.

If it were permanantly attached .... like riveted to the skull ... then it might be ok. The taxpayers will just have to spend tons of money to get all the licenses re-done so that in addition to a picutre, they also carry a retina scan. Then we'll spend even more money to put a retinal scanner in the hands of every kop on patrol. A tatooed bar code right across the bridge of the nose may be acceptable as well.

Quick clarification: the ruling did not say she had to be unveiled while driving, only when the photo was taken. That being the case, I'm generally inclined to agree with the ruling.

And when she's stopped for the inevitable "burned out tail light", or "failure to completely stop" will there be another international incident when the cop rightly insists that the veil be removed in order to ensure proper identification?

Of course there will be. She will refuse to remove the veil and they will have no choice but to arrest her. Once in the station though, all political correctness will be gone. As will be the veil. Can you say "lawsuit waiting to happen"?

She's a rather recent convert to the Muslim faith.
Ever heard the saying: ".... there's nothing worse than a reformed prostitute.."?

For those that didn't know, she was convicted of child abuse and sentenced to probation. Don't know any other details.
