Three Blondes were all applying for the last available position on the Texas Highway Patrol. The detective conducting the interview looked at the three of them and said, "So y'all want to be cops, huh?"

The blondes all nodded.

The detective got up, opened a file drawer and pulled out a folder. Sitting back down, he opened it and pulled out a picture, and said, "To be a police officer, you have to be able to detect. You must be able to notice things such as distinguishing features and oddities such as scars and so forth."

So saying, he stuck the photo in the face of the first blonde and withdrew it after about two seconds. "Now," he said, "did you notice any distinguishing features about this man?"

The blonde immediately said, "Yes, I did. He has only one eye!"
The detective shook his head and said, "Of course he has only one eye in this picture! It's a profile of his face! You're dismissed!"
The first blonde hung her head and walked out of the office.

The detective then turned to the second blonde, stuck the photo in her face for two seconds, pulled it back and said, "What about you? Notice anything unusual or outstanding about this man?"
"Yes! He only has one ear!"
The detective put his head in his hands and exclaimed, "Didn't you hear what I just told the other lady? This is a profile of the man's face! Of course you can only see one ear! You're excused too!"
The second blonde sheepishly walked out of the office.

The detective turned his attention to the third and last blonde and said, "This is probably a waste of time, but......" He flashed the
photo in her face for a couple of seconds and withdrew it, saying, "All right, did you notice anything distinguishing or unusual about this man?" The blonde said, "I sure did. This man wears contact lenses."

The detective frowned, took another look at the picture and began looking at some of the papers in the folder. He looked up at the blonde with a puzzled expression and said, "You're absolutely right! His bio says he wears contacts! How in the world could you tell that by looking at his picture?"

The blonde rolled her eyes and said, "Well, Helloooo! With only one eye and one ear, he certainly can't wear glasses."

I've watched those Dateline shows where they bust those guys. They're always so "sorry" and "weren't really going to do anything". It's a sick world we're living in, I tell ya! Going to a house, thinking they will get to have sex with a 13 or 14 year old.......amazing!

I think I heard something about that little town on the news the other day.

Sauage burrito for breakfast this morning.

Two boiled eggs and I'm full o'protein and ready to get this one over with!

Oh yeah, one more food note -- didn't get my dose of Mex food yesterday. Dad was afraid that (because we had some errands to run) would put us 'too late' getting home. He picked me up at 3:15. We did OK and I got him back home at the crack of 4:30. Plenty of time to take his dogs to the park and get home before dark. Bless his heart. Wonder how many of us will be all set in our ways by the time we hit 80?

I was thinking my hunger this morning was due to my running low on a tex-mex fix... but it seems to be universal around here! What ya say we hit the all-you-can-eat chinese joint for lunch? Mmmmmm, all-you-can-eat.

Had a visit this morning from one of the women in my dept who really wants me to come down to another floor and work with her instead of going with my old boss. She was very flattering -- said she'd love to have someone down there she could turn stuff over to and not worry about it getting done right. Came right out and told me she REALLY LIKES ME! Nice to hear, but as y'all know, I have this massive adversion to working for another woman. And this particular woman has a rep for being tough as nails (not to mention she's a transplanted NYer). However, I really do like her too... mainly because she's real smart and not afraid to stand up and state an unpopular opinion when she thinks something's wrong. (which also means she's been known to throw gigantic tantrums now & then)

Said she understands my wanting to go with the bossman since, as she put it, 'known shit is less scary than unknown shit'.

Then she told me she's going to tell my new BIG bosslady (who I've yet to even meet) that she'd be willing to arm-wrestle my old boss for me. I think that's a compliment, but not sure.

What would be REALLY GREAT is if all this fighting over me would result in me getting more $$$$, but that's not gonna happen. So that ain't part of the equation.

Guess it comes down to what do I wanna do? Work for the old bossman whose new responsibilities make it pretty clear I wouldn't have much actual work to do, but would be (as my mom used to say) Belle of the Ball in his dept. Or stay in this dept and either go with yankee-lady (where I'd have LOTS of work to do, but no pressure... but physiclaly isolated from nearly everyone else) -- or just stick to what I'm doing now, which is assisting a variety of staff members who need help with projects?

One thing's for certain.

I'm still just glad to be here. Nearly wish they'd just assign me to whereever they think I'm needed most and be done with it.

I HATE DECISIONS!!!!

Only clue I've gotten as to what I'd be doing if I go with the old bossman is 'covering his backside.' Which I'm good at. Comes from working for maniacs for so long. Other than that, don't have a clue.

Yankee-woman told me I should discuss her job with the guy who's worked in her area for a long time. So I'm going to do that. Maybe this afternoon. Guess I could get use to being a 'recluse'. Just not too sure I'd like it.

LOL, told one of my cube-neighbors that if I did move down there, might start throwing parties every day. Can't you see the email, "Hey y'all! I'm bored. Come on down to the 8th floor and let's shoot the breeze for awhile!"

Smarty,
Have you ever considered applying for a management position?
That way you could be part of the problem (indecisive and incompetent), rather than part of the solution (wondering whether your job will vaporize tomorrow).
A word of warning, life at the top sucks.

I guess, if it was me, I'd just have to trust my gut. I know that's no help for you, but if I listen close enough to my instincts (something I'm trying to practice more and more), the answer is usually there.

I shouldn't say such things, I know, but, if someone thinks you're evil you might as well not disappoint them. Heh.

Hopefully she will have piped down by next week or her and me are gonna rumble. :bike:

Sure did. I rescued him from the pound. Named him Marley

Found out one thing, It's hard to adopt a black cat from the pound around Halloween, but well worth the effort.

Nope, Bob Marley.

coin operated boy

coin operated boy
sitting on the shelf he is just a toy
but i turn him on and he comes to life
automatic joy
that is why i want a coin operated boy

made of plastic and elastic
he is rugged and long-lasting
who could ever ever ask for more
love without complications galore
many shapes and weights to choose from
i will never leave my bedroom
i will never cry at night again
wrap my arms around him and pretend....

coin operated boy
all the other real ones that i destroy
cannot hold a candle to my new boy and i'll
never let him go and i'll never be alone
not with my coin operated boy......

this bridge was written to make you feel smittener
with my sad picture of girl getting bitterer
can you extract me from my plastic fantasy
i didnt think so but im still convinceable
will you persist even after i bet you
a billion dollars that i'll never love you
will you persist even after i kiss you
goodbye for the last time
will you keep on trying to prove it?
i'm dying to lose it...
i want it
i want you
i want a coin operated boy.

and if i had a star to wish on
for my life i cant imagine
any flesh and blood could be his match
i can even take him in the bath

coin operated boy
he may not be real experienced with girls
but i know he feels like a boy should feel
isnt that the point that is why i want a
coin operated boy
with his pretty coin operated voice
saying that he loves me that hes thinking of me
straight and to the point
that is why i want
a coin operated boy.

OK, just came out of an hr meeting with the only guy who works in dept on the 8th floor I'm considering (it would just be me & him most of the time). He LOVES it down there. And has been in the same job for 12 yrs. Not sounding too bad. Besides, he told me he thinks the Yankee-woman will probably apply and get my old boss's job... so looks like I might end up working for her if I take option 1 OR 2.

Something to ponder this weekend. Appreciate y'all putting up with me ranting about this all day. Helps to put my thoughts into words and apologize for y'all having to be my sounding board! LOL, feel free to put me on ignore... I'll understand!

They do grow on you that way. Up here near Boston, when it's cold it's nice to have a cat at the foot of the bed. So cozy and comforting to hear that purring.

Having him at my feet would be nice, but he has this notion that sleeping on my head is more comfortable.
