I hear it on the TV... Jeter or Big Papi? the media has chosen who the mvp candidates are...

and my pick? neither...

the single most VALUABLE PLAYER to his team has been JOHAN SANTANA... he has a 23 game winning streak at home, and is freakin LIGHTS OUT when he pitches. He should win Cy Young AND the MVP this year.. without question.

The only reason they give it to anyone else is to spread the wealth.

Jermaine Dye, Chicago White Sox.
He was the WS MVP --he can pour it on when it counts.

i dunno Jim Thome might be a more viable candidate...

Jermaine Dye, Chicago White Sox.You are such a homer, rendova! It's hard to take your opinion seriously.

Jeter has the numbers and he's earned it. Besides, he's not a jerk.

A jerk?
He's a nice, spirited young man. I don't recall reading about any jerky thing he's ever done, but maybe I missed it.
I'm sure if he played for a team that garners headlines continously he'd get more respect. But the Sox are used to getting dumped on--we like it that way.

Here are Jermaines's stats as of today:

Avg 321, HR 41, rbi's 115.

Here are Jeter's:
avg 346, 13 HRS, 93 rbi's.

I cannot stand Jeter. A clubhopping party boy. At least Jermaine can read and write--I know--I have a WS autographed baseball. Pour it on, Jermaine!

Jeter should NEVER get the MVP.. he has such a stacked lineup...

If you remember.. THAT is the reason why Mo Vaughn got the MVP over Albert Belle in 1995...

So under that ruling.. a yankee should NEVER get an mvp.. because pretty much EVERY HITTER is an all-star caliber hitter.

Arod shouldnt have got it last year... and Jeter shouldnt even SNIFF it this year...

Although Dye's numbers are better, the Yankees lost Matsui and Sheffield. Jeter's numbers become more valuable in my eyes because of that.

Santana is definitely deserving as well, but I think MVP should go to everyday players...Cy Young is enough for pitchers IMO.

Santana hasn't won a game since Decka started this thread.

yea.. well he's still the most dominant player in the game...

ill still stand by my claim...

This years MVP is going to be a lame-duck MVP....

None of the top teams have a big time guy who is the obvious choice...

so its gonna be Jeter or Ortiz...

and i didnt look yet, but the yankees ARE tied for the best record in the league.. but the thing is.. they should always be held to a higher standard, because they spend 3-4 times the money than the teams that they are competing with(Detroit, Minnesota, Chicago).. PLUS they are in an easier divison....

If the yankees were in the central, they wouldnt be in the playoffs...
