Artic ice is melting at a 10-15 times higher rate than 25 years ago....but I'm sure the naysayers will disbelieve as usual.

and I am sure the true believers will take it as the sign of the apocolypse.

All I can say is that hopefully people will start to do something about it, or at least I'm hoping that it won't get really bad until after I'm dead.
There are heaps of information on this... How can people not believe in the problems associated with global warming. By the time the information is undeniable, the problem will be pretty damn hard to fix.

maybe if we all open our fridge doors and then open our windows we can reverse it
seriously though. Its not that I dont believe the earth is getting warmer, I just dont believe we can somehow reverse it by altering our lifestyles. The earth would be heating up regardless if we were here or not. People say we are making it worse, but that is debateable. Basically, we cant control the earths climate, and by saying we can make it better becasue we made it worse is saying we have control over the climate of the earth, which we dont.
I know this is an unpopular thing to say, and I will be bombarded with the old cliche about thousands of scientists saying it is so, but thats how I see it. We cant cool the earth down by carpooling to work. I will agree though that we need to cut back on pollution, as it is unclean and unhealthy, but as ar as it killing us with global warming, i dont see it.

this wouldnt be the first time ice caps have melted on our planet.. just so you know...
yea.. they ARE getting smaller up there... but i doubt there's much we can do about it...
very much so decka. it is the end of the world as we all know it. ho hum.
the last time the oceans rose, and the weather warmed a bit, the vikings were sailing all over the friggin place. wonder what the swedes are up to lately?

maybe we need some vikings around to clear out all these al qeada dirtbags. Nothing like a total disregard of political correctness to get things done.

Why would I disbelieve an observed fact?
It has also been observed that, over the past 300 years, there is roughly a 60 - 80 year cycle for the arctic ice-cap to increase and decrease. The present decrease corresponds to this cycle.
Is the present melting part of the natural cycle, or is it due to global warming? I don't know. If, in a few years, the ice-cap does not follow the historical cycle, then it may be evidence that man-made global warming is the cause.

dont you understand oldtimer? we dont have time to wait and see, we must act now! If we wait it will be to late, if it isnt to late already!

I understand, let's do something. Since it's the arctic ice-cap melting, obviously the people up north should stop heating their homes as much. Similarly, the people down south should try to cool the earth down by turning the a/c on as low as possible. Oh, btw, we should ban all SUVs. :)

dont forget, america should complelty revamp its entire way of life, but lets give polluters like China a pass

yea.. and lets all buy Al Gore's movie so he can make money off of a bunch of idiots who actually think he knows what he's talking about when it comes to weather and environment... or think that he knows what he's talking about AT ALL...
Al Gore is an environmental N00B waiting to get PWNED....
and watch.. as soon as a democrat is in office.. the cycle will still continue to do what it does.. and we wont hear A WORD about it...

maybe if we all open our fridge doors and then open our windows we can reverse it heh...
People say we are making it worse, but that is debateable. No, its not. The greenhouse effect is proven. Look at Venus.
Hmm lets see, whats Travs outlook here....quitter? nihilist? or self-indulgent? I think I'll take door #3

If its ARTIC ice that is melting, it's not going to raise sea levels one iota, the ice itself has already displaced the water. The ice caps/glaciers that are located over land will be the problem if they do melt. As THAT will raise sea levels.

how many cars was there on Venus when it finally became unlivalbe due to global warming guerilla?

Yup, you're right.
The point that I got from it was that it was showing a trend which may lead to the melting of the ice that is over land, like on greenland.

Yea, the Venus scenario isn't a good comparison. Venus is around 97% co2, whereas we have a very small percentage here, but the argument that CO2 adds to the Greenhouse Effect isn't really disputed, what is disputed is the amount that it adds to it.
(btw if we had 97% CO2, we would die of asphyxiation first anyways)

Al Gore is an environmental N00B waiting to get PWNED....
Yeah I mean its not like he'd written an extensively researched book over 14 years ago or something...
Now I'm not cheerleading Al Gore, I don't like the guy. But that statement was just silly.
Effect isn't really disputed, what is disputed is the amount that it adds to it. Not to mention massive amounts of Methane release by cows on factory farms.
