View Full Version : Liars and cheaters and crooks, oh my!
Imagine working for a company that has a little more than 500 employees and has the following statistics:
29 have been accused of spousal abuse
7 have been arrested for fraud
19 have been accused of writing bad checks
117 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least 2 businesses
3 have done time for assault
71 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit
14 have been arrested on drug-related charges
8 have been arrested for shoplifting
21 are currently defendants in lawsuits
84 have been arrested for drunk driving in the last year
Can you guess which organization this is?
It's the 535 members of the United States Congress. The same group of.....people..... that crank out hundreds of new laws each year designed to keep the rest of the US in line.

Thus, the American people are too stupid to vote for the right person. :(

Are we stupid, or are we not being told the whole story?

I heard somewhere that a huge majority of Americans thing Congress is full of liars and cheats. A similarly sized majority of Americans think that their Congressman is great and would vote for them again. In other words, everyone thinks it's someone else's congressman causing all of the problems.

America was stolen in the first place. The people who built it were stolen. Let's not pretend that the crookery started recently.

We took it, and it's ours, even down to the lousy crooks elected to office.

Hmmm.....those statistics are not all that disproportionate, if at all, from the rest of the population....except drunk driving one.
Statistics that rely on straight numbers instead of percentages are often designed to be misleading.

Statistics that rely on straight numbers instead of percentages are often designed to be misleading. Why isnt it disproportionate? These men and women are supposed to be our best and brightest. And as such, they should in turn be above being compared to your average american redneck or inner city criminal. At least, IMO.

I agree they should meet a higher standard but the title of this post labels them as "liars, cheaters, and crooks," labels which presumably imply that they fall below the average American.
Not so.
Lie to me, and to me you're a liar.
Cheat, and you're a cheater.
Steal, and you're a crook.
IMNSHO, those titles all belong. Then again, they also belong to a large portion of the population of Earth. ;)

Lie cheat and steal is the American way.
