I am totally for this. I have seen plans and I think they can work, specially in North Carolina.
I would like to see some of my tax dollars being used for something I want it to be done. And a person of Moderate beliefs, I like to have a little control over taxes
I just want to see whatever one else thinks

i'm not really sure where i stand on this issue.... i think it is a really good idea in theory, but just to look at the other side... if this money is taken away from public schools in expectation that they will become better to compete... well really, how do we expect them to become better w/o any money? sure they'll still get money, but do u see my point? like i said, i'm not really sure where i stand, it has pros and cons, and i just thought i'd point out a con.

For sure about competition but let me point out a few things...
First, right now all the people who home school have to pay the normal money that would go to the goverment, so the schools still get that money. See Johnston County, NC gets approx 5,5615.49 per student, now if the student is listed as an IEP, or such handicapped they get more money from the federal goverment. Wake county gets 100 dollars more that that.
Hyde county tops that with getting 10,000 dollars per student, and Mecklenburg our largest country gets 6,345 per student.
See teachers hate this idea...want to know why?
Most people who are teachers, not all but most, I have come to find, are not the brightest crayon in the box, see who in the right mind would ant to become a teacher specially the pay, thats a joke, they get 25,000 a year starting off. Anyone says its cause of the kids is lying through their teeth. They were not able to go and get a job in the private market and keep up with society?
I know lots of teachers personally, and most are not the brightest. Our prinicipals makes almost 70,000 a year, as he will be retiring soon.
Competition means the teachers have to stay current and strive to get doctorites, and demand that students get better, as well as the teaching methods, some students will never get smarter, thats a given but I think it is the teachers turn to get educated again.
When we make a mistake its our loss on a test, now let them go through the same thing.
They demand the best out of us, then lets demand the best for our money. I am personally tired of incompetent teachers. I want a teacher who cares, not one that will lave NaOH on the counter for a week, and allow another student to get a hold of it, and ruin the life of someone. And then allow the vice principal to worry more about the floor than someone's eye. Then take the person to a water fountain, leave them there and just let him scream, and live through the worst pain he has ever come to know.

i agree, the way they handled the NaOH was wrong in every sense fo the word. i honestly believe there r some teachers (mr. steve smith, mr. hales, ms. peedin) teach bc they love the kids or they love teaching. ms gale on the other hand, is not intelligent at all. maybe we should make them take the EOC and the AP exams each year to make sure they kno what they're doing. i still don't kno which way i stand, i'm just tryin to brain storm, u kno?

For sure, the whole point of making a decision is to gather all facts, and then make it.
Mr. Smith was just a trip, as I hope to have another class with him my Senior year.
Ms. Peedin seems very nice, and she seems relatively smart, ms. gale seems like an annoying teacher, that only cares about about the placement of certain class of students.
For any of the science teachers I have had. None of them are smart enough to handle a chemical such as this. I am starting to think my current chemistry might be that way, yet I am uncertain, because she lacks a certain understanding of what they can do, and the way they affect people, only certain people I have come to find actually know the power of chemicals, and not many of those people are in Clayton High School
As far as administration goes, they are a laugh in every aspect, as well in the guidence department, I have learned if yo want something done right, do it youself.
Everything I have posted here, I would say to each and everyone listed, because if you know me, I have strong beiefs in being honest, and being able to share my feelings with the person no matter if it be bad, or good.

vball I seem to find it a teacher would could not pass End of Course test. They past the state board exams and also went through college and graduated with a degree so I think any teacher has more knowledge about what they teach than you know again thats why they are there and thats where you hare here

Confused Youth,
The teacher that left the Sodium Hydroxide(NaOH) out was only licensed K-6 Kindergarden to 6th grade, and was on a provisional meaning she had one year to get the license, well I am strongly against this because that one year can be the year that they screw up majorly like the one did in my case. And because of that, I have a scar, for the rest of my life, people ask me where my school pride is when I wear black on Blue and White, I say its in my eye.
Morbid, and kinda whatever, but I say to heck with this school and its cheesy crap like that. I have lost the school spirit I had, I even canceled on going to the prom this year, as I will now be getting my license after 2 years of waiting due to the lack of competence the teacher had mind you, and I would rather spend my hard earned money on that.
Teachers due not have to continue to take the tests tho, license plumbers, A/C repair, Comp Techs, have to reknew the education and take a test after so many years, or they loose their license, why cant a teach loose theirs?
Like I said, most teachers do not do it for the love of the children, mostly because of the lack of competiion they want to have in the private sector.
