Anybody here read 1984?

I read it long before 1984. Wasn't that a model of sorts for "A Clockwork Orange"?

Yes I did when I was a teenager (in 1983, I guess !). One of the best books I ever read.
I recently read a couple of other novels by Orwell, which are great too. Especially the one were he describes his life amongst tramps in Paris and London at the beginning of the century - a really amazing book.
