We appeal to our brothers in Azerbaijan and to all world community. We’re, Azerbaijanians of Kvemo Kartli Georgian region announce that Georgian authorities encroach our human rights flagrantly. We had been living here since olden days. This is our land Georgians bereaved us of. They forbid us to talk language of our ancestors and teach it in our schools. They’re rushing into our houses unapproved and crushing everything striking their eyes and insulting our women and beating our men. Georgian policemen torture and even kill Azerbaijani detainees. They can arrest 70 years old woman for protest action participation. Some of us were witnesses of murder of aged Azerbaijan woman during bickering about renting of our native land to Georgian. Nobody pays attention on this incident at all. Azerbaijanians in Georgia are disfranchised. We aren’t able to protest against our discrimination. Our marches and pickets for just cause are cruelly persecuted by police and some of our brothers were beaten to death.
At the same time Georgia’s human rights ombudsman Sozar Subari connives such outrages. He even says that pickets’ carrying out is criminal offence. Why wouldn’t they arrest all those people who blocked roads during Rose Revolution?
So we cry for help to everyone who’s concerned. Stop this violating the rights of Azerbaijanian population in Georgia or soon it would turn into genocide.
