View Full Version : Hebrew Biblical Scriptures Based on Egyptian Documents?
My studies of the similarity in certain concepts of all religions have taken me to the comparison of Egyptian religion and the later Christian Biblical Old and New Testament.
I thought this may be of interest to some of you.
Some of the information is on the INTERNET if you want to see some comparisons.
Egyptology's Sir E.A.Wallis(1800's) wrote- "The new religion (Christianity) which was preached by St.Mark and his immediate followers, was in all essentials so closely resembles that which was the outcome of the worship of Osiris, Isis, and Horus, that popular opposition was entirely disarmed."

Similarities between the 10 Commandments and 5 of the quotations from the Egyptian Book of the Dead http://www.religioustolerance.org/chr_10cl.htm
I have seen no evidence yet that there was not a central source for certain basic elements of all religions. The problem is that the search thru so many ancient historical documents is very difficult.
Christian Bible-
Thus Spake the Lord thy God:"Every male among you shall be circumcised. You shall circumcise the flesh of the foreskin, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between you and me."
Yet, Egyptian Mummies and carvings show that the practice appeared in Eqypt thousands of years before the time of Moses.
Osiris(Ra) was the first god to demand it.
Apparently Moses and the Israelites were introduced to many of the practices of Egypt, later claiming them as their own origination.

Especially the Proximity-
Osiris-God of the heavens
Set (satan?) Lord of the underworld.
Isis (Mary?) Holy mother,
whose son is Horus (Jesus?).

Hmm...looks like the egyptians were more thourough then the christians:
"I have not murdered or given such an order."
There are certain things necessary to have a society. Not murdering, stealing or lying are pretty central to any society and would be required of most any religion.

Yes, but there always seems to be an unwritten (or sometimes written): EXCEPT under certain circumstances, clause.

Yeah.......all those little details were no doubt mere coincidences. Persish the thought that Jesus was copied directly from Horus.

Freethinker, where is it that I can find the story of Horus that has all those details. I've looked around the net a bit and couldn't find the story with that detail. Most of what I found were sites that listed the similarities between Christ and Horus, or maybe a quick overview, but nothing that gives the story translated from any of the Egyptian books of religion. I, however did notice that the claims made about Horus birth are a little slanted to match Christ’s. Like Horus being born from a virgin, yet an Egyptian relief of the conceptions of Horus shows his mother, Isis, in the form of a falcon hovering over a dead Osiris. Apparently he died ready to perform. As for the Birth of Horus being Dec...well the Bible doesn’t teach when Jesus was born, it could have been September.
If you would provide the link to the research on Horus I’d love to check it out myself.
