Over the years I have heard many stories about the "traditional" lifestyles of the Japanese people and the growing hostility towards non natives. Some say that its all bulls#it, while others say that they would NEVER go back there.
I saw this while serching the web http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xCeK0Trz9E0&mode=related&search=
For those that have been there, please tell me what your experiences were like there.. and please BE HONEST!! :(

I was in Japan in 1959 and there were many places with signs not allowing foreigners. That was OK with me cuz us American GI's go in and get loud and rowdy, chase the women and break up chairs and tables while fighting. Can't expect everyone to accept us with open arms. My Chief tole me it was ok to act wild in Japan but to clean up my act when I get back to the states or I will end up in Jail. I know it was wrong but I considered them a conquered people that had to bend to my will. They liked me much better than the older ones who were veterans of WW2 with Japan. I could see their hate for those guys.
Over all, I like the Japanese people but I do know they are racist and Nationalist. Their companys compete like Samari warriors trying to destroy us but so far it has been good for both of us. They take our products and make them better.

When I was there, everyone was really nice to me. At my school, I even got the Rockstar treatment, complete with groupies and autograph signings!
However, Japan is very protective of its culture, and many fear the trend of "westernization." From my knowlege, It's nearly impossible for a foreigner to become a citizen. Frankly, I don't think Japan has to worry; Japanese culture is rapidly becomming a fad, if nothing for it's uniqueness, and Japanese business heavily caters to foreigners as well. Even school kids start learning english from 5th grade onward so that by the time they're adults, they are fairly proficient.
Just my 3 cents.
