I love Horror movies, but due to laziness, I always seem to be a step behind. What are your top five?

1. Psycho (the original)
2. The Excorcist
3. Amytiville Horror (both versions, with a heavy nod to the original)
4. Poletergeist (original)
5. The Omen (again original please)

While we're at it, why can't Hollywood come up with their own ideas. Most of these movies never needed to be remade. Just another excuse to make money without any care for quality.

I am a huge horror movie fan as well. I saw my first horror movie at 5 years old. My brother was hiding outside of the room and scared the hell out of me while I was watching....I was addicted ever since.

I suppose if I could only have 5 and no more than that....I would choose

Nightmare on Elm St. (1 and 3 were my favourites)
The Exorcist (I would hate to see them remake this)
Friday the 13th Pt 4 (I think its 4 - its the one with Cory Feldman...though 1 was awesome too)
Halloween (first scary movie I ever watched)
Psycho - The Original ( never saw the remake...never will )

I agree, they don't make scary movies like they used to. When a stranger calls was the biggest waste of time I've spent in awhile.....Itd be nice to see some new scary movies come out with the ability to actually scary someone though.....I can dream right?

John Carpenter's The Thing--absolutely superb, original, tremendous ensemble acting, suspensful, terrifying, and we've yet to figure out the ending.

John Carpenter's The Thing, has my favorite line in movie history.

(spoiler for those who haven't seen it.)

The alien has just taken the hands of the EMT trying to ressusitate their friend, while all hell is literally breaking lose, the guys head tears itself from the body, legs grow out of the skull an eyes come out of the severed neck. This critter is now headed for the door, one of the guys turns and says dead pan perfect "You've got to be fucking kidding me."

He didn't scream, or say it with any sarcasm, just a perfect flat delivery, that summed up the perfect human response to something that crazy. :woohoo:
