Look I'm no huge Rap fan, but shouldn't Run DMC be on your list somewhere.
I really don't know if I have a favorite.
I have in the past enjoyed the work of some:
Eminem
Will Smith
Run DMC
LL COOL J
Nelly
Snoop Dog
Again while I enjoy some of their songs, I've never bought an album of any of them.

I'm no rap fan, but some have more skill, better rhythm, and overall better music than others. That doesn't exactly say much though.

I'm with es on this one. After you start seriously playing an instrument, you begin to get SERIOUS disdain for people who don't play and have no talent, and probably wouldn't be even capable of playing if they even tried and then go and make millions of dollars. It's fucking disgusting is what it is. I used to follow the crowd and I used to like crappy bands, but learning what it is they do has made me look back and ask "WHY?!". Then there's the kickback of listening to good musicians and again asking "WHY?!", but in a different context.

You're 100% right.

it really doesnt take much musical skill to be a rapper.. i mean, 99% of the songs are remakes, and while the lyrics might be theirs, its not that hard to make words rhyme.. its much harder to play a guitar solo or play the piano...
I take rap music for what it is, fun to dance to, but not music. Its the clones and the MTV retards who try to say hip hop is a "way of life' and make it out into WAYYYY more than what it actually is.
To me its good to be Sean Paul.. he has a FORMULA for success...
A. Hire a bunch of professional dancers to dance on your stage and in your video, and even though YOU can't dance, being associated with them blinds people to that.
B. Sing in one pinched tone the whole song...
C. Rely on sexual content and innuendos because that is what sells...
It might be off topic, but that guy is probably the richest and most popular man ever for the amount of "talent" he has.
