Have you seen the site thefutureisours.com V was such a great movie. One of the best action films ever IMO. Up there with Batman Begins as being one of the best comic/graphic novel adapted movies for sure. The special edition DVD is really cool.

Due to all of your comments, I have decided to go ahead and get it. I was skeptical at first, I'll admit, but when I finished it, I thought it is one of the best movies I've seen. Top 5. Thanks for recommending it everybody.

I enjoyed the film for the action and the acting. Can't say that I cared for the politics. But you can't take something like that all that seriously.

Ended up liking this movie a lot more then expected. The messages are pretty relevant.

Small trivia question, who was the man behind the mask and did you pickup on his other almost type casted roll? (It bugged me for days, until I had to look it up)

When I realized the US had lost a war to England, I lost interest.

When I realized the US had lost a war to England, I lost interest.
That didn't happen in the movie. The US was a crumbling nation due to various problems, and was torn by civil strife. I don't recall any war with England at all, and I saw the film twice.

And you missed out on a good cinematic experience due to your ridiculous patriotism.

Has there not been a devastating war and England is now the World Power and the US taking a back seat?
This is what I assumed to be going on, from what little I watched.

PS. I'll decide what "ridiculous" patriotism is. Or a good movie, for that matter.

England--fascist?
Oh my good lord. And I think my giant spider movies are fake.

There is no mention of England being the World Power, there is no mention of a war between the US and England, there is only a mention of a crumbling state for the US due to civil strife.

Most patriotism is ridiculous, especially when it sinks so deep that you must be pompous and think, "Dear Lord, what sort of movie is this where America is not the supreme power!" It's fiction for Christ's sake. You're missing the overarching themes and the quality of the story due to lunacy like that.

Most patriotism is ridiculous, .

Crap, but it's good that you've finally declared yourself.

Most movies ask that a watcher suspend belief.
But when a movie asks that a viewer accept the idea that a country that bankrupted themselves in order to fight REAL fascists, and which is the home of the Magna Carta and a thousand-year monarchy , becomes fascist, is doing rather more...it is making a cheap political statement in the guise of "entertainment" and , even more, flushes belief right down the toilet.

Perhaps the movie would have been better by merely pretending that Germany or Italy were now fascist--seeing as how it's happened before.

But I'll bet Churchill would have loved it..being a misguided patriot and all.

Something tells me you're the kind of person who likes to ruin films for others by over-addressing and over-analyzing the plotlines. Most movies are silly, it's the message that is important, it is the entertainment that is important, it is the art that is important. If you have trouble suspending disbelief, perhaps you should stick to documentaries.

"Patriotism is your conviction that this country is superior to all other countries because you were born in it."
-George Bernard Shaw

Evak, spare me your silly pomposity and misguided twitiness.

I didn't care for the movie. So the hell what?

Sue me, and try your insults elsewhere--they've been a bit boring for some time.
