My first wife's mother was a German woman who came to the U.S. following WWII. She was (is?) a real character. She & I used to sit drinking beer & eating jalapeno peppers together while her husband & my wife sat & watched in total amazement. Haven't communicated with any of them in about thirty years now.

Bubba's dad is deceased but his mom still lives (she's age 70) and quite active--she enjoys traveling, gardening, doing genealogy--we don't see her much. She's a nice woman who minds her own business and doesn't meddle--the first cardinal sin among in-laws (unlike my first MOL who was a true battleax and once re-arranged my silverware drawer because it wasn't proper).
My mother in-law is a megga religious catholic...
Hubby is a bit of a heathan Heathen (?) now...
She always buys me Mary Jesus and Joseph pictures or fridge magnets calenders,,,hubby refuses to put them up,,,,and when she calls round she asks where they are,,,,so i tell her,,,,,,,,i put them up and he takes them down......

Well my almost in laws seemed to love me more then their son. They were dutch and the most wonderful people in the world for the two years. I can feel for how you are feeling though Red. Having the mother-in-law that is kinda in your business all the time and stepping around must be hard. I boyfriend as I mentioned lives in Sheffield and he has a name for his mum and her ladies club that get together once a month. the, "SWNN" Sheffield women's nattering network. OMG that is too funny. I have a friend in Utah and we talk a lot so she now call us the CUNN, "Canada Utah Nattering Network. He is such a prince for it though.

Both my in-laws are deceased but when they were alive I really liked my father-in-law. My mother-in-law was another story. I didn't like her and she didn't like me. We tolerated each other.
Never had in-law problems.

I like my in-laws. Live 650 miles away from them - that probably helps.
fyi - Red - we emailed this post to your mother in law.
