Yeh thats the spirit, then while were at it lets take down the entire Internet as well.
I havent read that many of your posts but the above was plain retarded.
The site is hugely popular so as any social networking site in todays modern age its going to suffer these kinds of things. The onus is on the childs parents to make sure she is safely using the internet, and to take any kind of meeting arranged from the internet with extreme caution.
Its appaling that this sort of thing does happen, however Its utterly wrong to blame the site. Thats like blaming the kitchen knife in a stabbing, "Get rid of them all, they can be used for harm".

The problem does not lie with MySpace at all.
It lies with
A) 14 yr old kids that are unsupervised
B) The existance of Child Molesters
A molester could pick up a 14 year old at the Mall too. Should Shopping Malls & be shutdown too?

Yes it is.
I've posted loads of stuff on Myspace, as have my freinds and nothing bad has come from it. As it happens, I met some people on there which eventually lead to my part time job at Game.
Stop being so narrow minded.
As Drew pointed out, No parent should allow their 14 year old child to meet ANY person off the net unsupervised. They all know the risks since its widely advertised. If the child decides to secretly meet the person then more fool them for ignoring all the signs of danger. The guys myspace clearly depicts how old he is.

I agree with Drew and Loki on this.
Dude, there's always been losers out there--if they weren't using the Internet, it'd be something else. True, the net makes it easier for them, but a little common sense and not posting too much personal info about yourself--anywhere--can do wonders until you get to know the person better.

good idea, red...we use filters on the pcs that the younger kids at the house have access to.....I do feel sorry tho, for the kids whose parents just don't give a damn.

I also agree with Drew.
It has nothing to do with Myspace.com. MySpace is for friends and networking, not to find young children to take advantage of.
Yes, these types of ppl obviously go to a site like Myspace to lure young kids or even adults into their sick, evil twisted game but there are ways of keeping your information safe, like don't give it out! And don't post it on your site everywhere.
It is unfortunate that children who are on myspace make a friend who turns out to be a child molester. However, things of this sort have been going around a lot lately. The children/ teens should be a bit more careful when on the internet and the parents shouldn't be so lenient towards it.
There are many variables to look at, but MySpace is not to blame 100% in this case.

I hate MySpace, but it's not their fault that child molesters exist.
