We are all screwed, net neutrality got shot down

http://news.zdnet.com/2100-9588_22-6081882.html

The U.S. House of Representatives definitively rejected the concept of Net neutrality on Thursday, dealing a bitter blow to Internet companies like Amazon.com, eBay and Google that had engaged in a last-minute lobbying campaign to support it. [more]This means that websites wich cant afford to pay extortion fees to the big ISP's will be banished to the dirt roads of the internet. Then Google, Amazong etc has to pour its money into becomming a big ISP. Thereby making sure they dont have to pay money to the other ISPs. If Google did that, they would sure get the vote of the people securing free speech and fair internet usage etc.

There we go then, Disaster Averted and a big clap clap to the ISPs for sealing a large loss of customer base

Personally I don't think ISPs would dare draw the wrath of their subscribers by making web-surfing an exercise in frustration.

ISPs don't care what their subscribers think. For example, they'll hand any personal information about you over in an instant. They'll do what they want because regardless of what they do, we'll still pay. Just how long could one in our modern age willingly go without the internet?

That's not a good example - most people don't care if they hand over info or are blissfully unaware. Whereas if they're unable to surf over to their favorite porn site - well then now you've got problems.
