When in law enforcement, I once went to a home where the husband had shot his wife in the eye with a 22 caliber pistol, they had argued over a box of chocolates that the daughter had brought home from school.

The wife lost the eye, but lived, and did not want to press charges against the husband. But, the states attorney did anyway.

She was probably afraid he'd take her other eye out.
She should have just smashed his head in with a cast iron skillet and have done with his nonsense.
