Is some difference between Saakashvili and Shevardnadze? To tell the truth I don’t see it. The real deferens is in corruption dimension which got state scale with Saakashvili’s coming to power. It’s well-known that most part of money is plundered by officials and the rest is spent for Georgia militarization. Saakashvili’s policy is directed at territorial integrity (annex of Abkhazia and South Ossetia). And Saakashvili sees only one way out from this situation – military campaign.
It’s interesting that Saakashvili as his predecessor Shevardnadze have the same enemies. Saakashvili is hunting for Georgadze (‘AntiSoros’ movement leader) who is known and getting popularity among Georgians. Look, with the beginning of Georgadze’s activity Saakashvili has been trying to put him behind bars with all his might because he understands that Georgadze is his single and real opponent. But more interesting that in his time Shevardnadze tried to do it too. And such analogy is pushing to idea that Saakashvili and Shevardnadze have close ties and Saakashvili is depending on former president. I’m sure that present Georgia president is continuing the way of his political teacher Shevardnadze.
