Have you ever had an unusual pet?

Besides various turtles, I had a pet preying mantis once---she was a full six inches in length--would eat out of a spoon (she loved Lucky Charms), washed her face like a cat, and slept in a basket at night. I was quite attached to her and I believe she recognized me--or at least she knew I meant "food."

Her name was "Green Tiger".

I was heartbroken when she died of old age.

I have llamas and alpacas....is that a strange pet?

Are the alpacas pets, or are you raising them for their valuable fleece? Maybe a little of both? I only ask because my cousin has an alpaca farm, and while they are very lovable imo, they are there largely for hopes of profit.

I had my pet Iguana, Valerie when I was in college. I named her Valerie because she had a big tail like this girl I used to go out with. I also had chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, pigeons, rabbits and goats. Oh, wait. They weren't pets. They were food.

I have to admit the alpaca "industry" confuses me. I've talked to some people and they say there is a tiny demand for the fleece. The main market is to sell alpacas to people who want an alpaca farm so that they can breed alpacas to sell to people who want alpaca farms. Seems like a pyramid scheme (I don't mean that literally) that will collapse once they're no longer able to convince people to keep buying alpacas.

I have a cockatiel (bird). It's a pretty cool pet. I'd love to get a big parrot some day.
