WTF they shot someone taking border jumpers back to Mexico?
You're conveniently leaving out some crucial information about the alleged actions of the person they shot.

No, apparently they shot someone who was trying to run down federal officers.

My understanding was that he just didn't stop; not that he was goign to run them over. But I suppose the story gets twisted depending on who's reporting it.

I was only referring to the article 500 linked to wherein it said:
The driver refused to get out, and when agents smashed the vehicle's window with a baton, he accelerated in the direction of five U.S. agents blocking his path and "nearly pinned an agent standing next to the vehicle," said San Diego police Lt. Jeff Sferra.
Since I wasn't there, I don't know what really happened, but I think it unlikely he would have been fired upon if there was no danger to the officers involved.

I guess. I still don't see whats wrong with shooting out the tires or through the windows. But like you said it so subjective based on the reporting that we don't have a clue.
I just thought it was wierd with all the immigration hub-bub goin on.

Shooting out the tires doesn't really stop a vehicle dead in its tracks.

From the article:
Chris Bauder, president of National Border Patrol Council Local 1613, which represents Border Patrol agents in San Diego, including the one involved in shooting, said the agent followed his training.
"Based on what I've heard, it sounds like they acted properly and did what they do were trained to do. The suspect drove right at the inspector and posed a direct threat. His life was in danger," Bauder said.
Here's what I find confusing: Are the agents trained to stand in front of a vehicle while someone smashes the windshield? Why weren't other vehicles used to block the suspect vehicle rather than agent's bodies?
