Plantensimycin-(made from a strain of bacteria that was recovered from a soil sample collected in South Africa) is to be tested against the drug resistant "hospital superbug" when approved for human use.

Great News !!
MRSA is spreading fast,,,no matter how clean u are its very easy to contract.....
We have several patients with this "Superbug" and its no fun to be isolated,,,especially when your dying anyway.....

It is good news, although there will never be a final perfect antibiotic. There will always be a new resistant strain. It's just how natural selection works. It's an arms race between us and the bacteria.
Yes, and human nature, being as it is, has not helped the situation.
We go to the doctor with a runny nose and expect to leave with a prescription of antibiotics, or we do not think that we got our moneys worth.
This over-use of antibiotics has led to them to not being as effective.
Add this to the fact that many people do not finish the prescribed amount and quite taking them as soon as they feel better, allowing the unkilled bacteria to evolve immunities.

You are exactly correct Dan, and unfortunately doctors, who should know better, often give in to the pressure. They know that if they don't another doctor will, and the other doctor will make all the money.
I've heard a little bacteria is good for keeping the immune system strong- I've never been a freak about anti bacterial dadada you know & my family never really gets sick much.
