Thanks both of you. This was asked of me by a teenager and I thought it was real but maybe it's a joke. I was thinking it was some kind of puzzle and the answer was actually 619.

Anything *2 will be an even number as will anything times six. Anything even plus (or +) anything even will be even. 619 is odd. I also looked at Five plus Eleven as 511, but that makes 669. Did the kid write it down wrong?

I had an epiphany and thought of a different base system, but it uses the number 9, so it must be at least decimal (base 10). Any "larger" base, like hexadecimal, will result in a number that "looks" smaller than 174. For example, the answer above would be FC in hex. Oh well.
