The Iraqi fighters called'insurgants' role is not to remove US Forces, but to make Iraq ungovernable and unstable, unfortunatly for the presenter, somebody thought her killing would make some sort of statement,it did,war is futile,in all its forms.

War is futile in all its forms?
Battling Hitler was futile? Who knew. Battling Hiro Hito was futile, you don't say? War against commmunism was futile.....I think the survivors would tell a different stroy.

Id agree with the first two,I dont see what the benefits of fighting Communism were to the US,after all the Ruskies were never going to attack Western Europe,it all turned into a clash of egos between The White House and the Kremlin, and the only winners were the arms dealers, the only losers, the people of Eastern Europe..

It's not about benefits to the US. War takes place around the globe. Sometime even in opposition to the type of tyranny offered by communists. Are you suggesting that what happened to people who resisted communism in Afghanistan or Cuba or China or...... was meaningless, futile?

No,what im saying is theres double standards going on all over.Take Cuba first, why did Communism flourish there, because the guy running it was in the back pocket on the American Mafia at the time, and the majority of its people did suffer under Baptista, what was DCs reaction,'Bay of pigs',a complete failure, and then the US took the hump, and have never really adressed the issue since, but after Castro,Cuba will return to Democracy..

Afghanistan.Totally different,a foreign power,Russia, tried to set up a puppet Gov,the Afghans resisted, armed by the CIA,ok so far,the point being, the people of Afghanistan didnt want Communism, unlike the Cubans.

China:If the US is so anti Communist, they were invited into the White House for lunch last week,US Citizens protesting their presence ouyside were arrested by the cops,if thats not double standards. What is.

The murder and death of Atwar Bahjat.
Yes, it was horrifying the way she was killed. A tragedy.
Too bad that you and the rest of your rightwing ilk cannot dredge up 1/1000th that amount of empathy for the 100,000 or so Iraqi people that are just as dead thanks to the imperialistic warmongering of Bush and his cabal of co-consprators in the US.........and all done out of a relentless desire to control the remaining oil resources in the world.

The Communists in Afghanistan, Cuba, Poland, Romania..... never killed anybody? They weren't worth fighting because........ those countries will all return to/become liberal democracies?
Is this a return to the 'natural order' of things? Regression to the mean?

Its a proven fact, that Communism just dont work, apart from Cuba, were its about the best example of it working, but there also,it will come to a natyural end.

waldo appears to be nothing but a hippie-crit
And of course ignoring the fact that these death squads targeting academics, scientists and religious leaders are all done by US run death squads in the hope of inciteing a civil war so that the Iraqis will be more interested in killing each other then the US's troops.
