If you liked Shogun you would probably like Taipan.

Believe it or not my two favorite books are, Thidwick the Big Hearted Moose, and, Swiss Family Robinson.

Thidwick is the first real book I read totally independently and Swiss Family Robinson was the book that got me hooked on reading.

well, I like fantasy and Mercedes Lackey is one of my fav writers, and "Brightly Burning" one of my favorite books of hers (but since it's one I'm reading now that's likely to change once I finish and move on to another :p)

My favorite book will probably have to be "The Giver" by Lois Lowry. I read it in 6th grade but I remember it still to this day. It's one of the few books that I actually have completed from cover to cover.

I have been getting into Romance Novels and currently like books by Carly Phillips. They are some of the few books that I actually have trouble putting down.

I need to start reading more though. Anyone have some good ideas/ suggestions?

"The Caine Mutiny" by Herman Wouk is probably my favorite book and I'd recommend it to anyone.
It has a love story (not sappy), realistic adventure, a trial, and scenes that will make you laugh out loud, or cry.
And a villain who's one of the worst in all literature.

My son in law, who hates to read, could not put this down.

A masterpiece.

advgirl32, if you like romances Johanna Lindsey's books generally have good plots and are really good. Another author I'd recommend for you is Janet Evanovich especially her One for the Money and the rest of that series. Janet Evanovich is really funny and alot of her books are romances (not so much the one for the money series though)
