Are there signs of intelligence in the Mexican Congress? It appears so. While their proposed weights are a bit stingy, this sure looks like a step in the right direction. Kinda funny though - just as our Northern neighbor changes step with the population and goes in the other direction ... Mexico steps (http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/3827412.html) into the discussion in a major way.

Damn straight. Good of a country to actually go to a sensible, free drug policy instead of going crazy-go-nuts arrested people for smoking a single joint (which harms no one). However...what does it say for our country, which is falling so far behind in terms of liberties?

We are not falling behind in liberties. We are gaining in security!

I think the Mexicans have a cheek, probaly 80-90% of narcotic smuggling into the US is thru Mexico, its like the warehouse that supplies the store, what sort of mesage is this sending out to these traffickers,im sure the DEA are are going nuts.

Well maybe, but I needed to get that out.In Ireland and UK,its been legal to have small amounts'not sure of weight' of cannibus on you for private consumption for some tears now,I find it something that goes largely ignored by the population, and it feels more like a liberty you already had,as the kops would only book you for possession if they wernt busy in the first place.

The kops in the U.S. are already wringing their hands over this bit of legislation, that's for certain. Our "Jorje" Bush is liable to legalize 15 million wetbacks to get the mesikan legislature to back off of this one.

Right,so you think Mexicos introducing this law putrely as a bargaining chip,to scrap when theyve got something for it.
