I posted this on another site, and they didn't get it. So I'm wondering if it's just me, or if they're just slow...

Three men were to be put to death. They prayed to God for help, and he replied, "Tomorrow, when they ask you how you want to die, tell them you want to die by jumping off a cliff. Yell out the name of what you want to become as you jump off the cliff, and you will turn into that thing and be saved." So the three men go to sleep thinking about what they want to be.
The next day, when their captors ask how they want to die, they say they want to jump off a cliff. Their captors say okay, and the first guy goes up. He runs as fast as he can towards the edge of a cliff, and shouts "Butterfly!" He turns into a butterfly and flies away.
The second guy goes up. He runs towards the edge of the cliff, jumps, and shouts "Bird!" He turns into a bird and flies away.
The third guy goes up, but he hasn't made up his mind about what he wants to be, so he's jogging along. Finally, he makes up his mind, and runs full speed towards the edge of the cliff.
As he's running, he trips over a rock and falls on his face. He pounds the ground with his fist, and shouts...
"$hit!"
