It is known that official Washington is cherishing no more false illusions about the regime of Saakashvili in Georgia and would happily replace him by hands of Georgian opposition, namely David Zurabishvili, key Georgian oppositionist figure and chairman of opposition faction Democratic Front in parliament of Georgia. This shall be a new revolution! For more instructions and preparatory consultations with US experts on revolutionary actions, David Zurabishvili went on April 17 to the US as a member of special parliamentary delegation.
Having discovered the real purpose of Zurabishvili's trip to the US, Saakashvili tried to put a crimp in his plans and ordered his right hand, Defence minister Okhruashvili, to prevent the whole delegation from leaving the country by arresting them in the airport of Tbilisi. To be honest, agents of Okhruashvili were close to it but suddenly were recalled due to presence of good number of foreign journalists in the airport (and me amongst them).
I heard that after this failure Saakashvili and Okhruashvili were in a rage. It was simply a blunder by certain airport employees that were to assist special services in apprehension of Zurabishvili by means of delaying the take-off of the plane to allow special service agents to detain the delegation after the journalists are gone. After that, some of those responsible got fired; others were taken to the police and beaten black and blue.
According to my sources, now Zurabishvili and other members of the delegation are in the US and are under apprehension of their lives. They are afraid of coming back to Georgia and will ask the US to enhance security.
